I concur with the initial point Awamkijaam brought up about the entire "STFU and keep plodding along with your head down" logic being extremely toxic to whoever is at the receiving end. Unfortunately, a lot of people seem to be saying that to Yami here.

It's basically another way of saying, HEY, don't make noise to upset the upper echelons whose birthright is to be better and do better in every which way possible! HEY, don't make noise even if you have to work 10 times harder to get half as far, that is if you were blessed with a lottery winning luck! I'm not quite on board with that school of thought either....... and it isn't for lack of trying! 🤷‍♀️

I'm sure Yami is smart and able if she has impressed people and managed to bag a movie with Hrithik. and people think of her when they have to list out a bunch of bollywood actors, solely based on her hustle.

After exhausting all her resources, if she still got thrown under the bus to accommodate others (implied in her tweet), there's absolutely nothing wrong with her venting out frustration without resorting to personal attacks. I didn't get why people jumped the gun to label her with derogatory names for that alone.

Yami put it out there in public and that's how people know that she got the short end of the stick -- why should she NOT put it out there and just hustle silently?! What's the virtue in that? We're all human and we all have times when things weigh us down, when we wanna let things off our chest. Can't believe that's not already a given.

To my understanding, Kangana has traumatized so many sensibilities that everyone is on the edge of a proverbial cliff when it comes anything that sounds even remotely close to Kangana rhetoric. As soon as someone says anything that resembles it, people jump on the defensive side to suppress that side, even if that person might indeed be facing something real .... cuz... well, I'm assuming they're worried that it will add more gasoline to Kangna's "movement"... something they don't want at any cost whatsoever. Kangana has made people so weary that half of them can't even stand examining the other side more thoughtfully and with some empathy.

Some people DO get singled out and people get constantly thrown under the bus for someone with better connections in Bollywood, even after they sign contracts, are promised movies, etc. To try and argue that it doesn't happen and that whoever vents about it is just "whining" is an extremely toxic thing to say indeed.

So, the "arguments" whitewashing the disturbing aspects of the industry run in a loop cuz God forbid the other side (Kangu the great) gets any credibility or traction at all. Kangna might have started that conversation but she has only done other outsiders and their stories a disservice cuz people aren't even willing to lend their ear for anything that resembles Kangana's story at this point. That's the bottom line. 🤷‍♀️

On this forum , how many commented on the thread praising a certain performance by shantanu, seema pahwa etc ? How many reviews were posted on A Thursday thread? Or about Samantha (besides lord Voldemort) 😂

Now compare that to how many commented on a post saying aliaa failed as a performer - countless

And how many posts were made abt aliaa and her pr — again countless

Failure or mistakes of a nepo kid is given more importance than the success of a non nepo kid …by the audience themselves …no one’s directing them to do this …they are doing it on their own accord …

How can they blame media for catering to populist interest when they themselves couldn’t give 2 hoots abt all these wonderful non nepo actors and their wonderful films?

It’s high time we accept that we watch films based on the interest level they generate …we don’t go looking to empower non nepo actors …if we don’t show investment of time or effort to even watch a film , nothing anyone in the industry does to empower these actors will ever work

I'm honestly not interested in the nepotism debate cuz I've already read every possible "argument" for and against it by now. So, I'm gonna have to pass.

But since you tagged me, and this thread is designated to discuss Yami's tweet, I'll address that bit. How do you know for a fact that Yami wasn't one of the contenders for that list and they turned on her last minute to fit someone else in?! Presumably someone with more reach than her? That's a lot more common than you think. That happens even among middle class organizations where people are running for presidency and other titles, so when the stakes and $$$ rewards are higher, I can only imagine the level of politics that must go behind the "top actors" lists of B'wood.

Most of the stuff's been dumped on OTT platforms the last two years. That rules out BO pull, so Yami's tweet venting about the list that strictly talks about the first quarter of this year (2022) has nothing to do with audience interest in her movie this year, now does it? Unless you're saying that the list is purely based on data/facts/numbers, unadulterated with internal politics, in which case, that's just too good to be true. If you think it's pure meritocracy (aka lack of attention, her failing to generate that buzz, etc. without anyone else intervening to fudge it) you are free to think that.
