Losing weight is not very tough. Idk but when you travel on Indian roads or trains or metro you will find a majority of men and women as slim, fit and maintained. Even shifting a dinner routine can bring drastic fall in weight. If one eats their dinner before 8 and keeps it light and healthy it can reduce weight by several pounds. As for actors what i have heard they def work out a lot and eat only boiled foods and avoid dairy. Also shoots are planned much in advance, they prep for it. If they have to appear in an ad or something its just a small stint and mild bloating and stuff can be easily disguised or photoshopped. They also do intermittent fasting or detox 2-3 days before a big shoot like let’s say if an item nimber is to be shot. For movies they train hard. None of them apart from Akshay Kumar is doing more than 1-2 films a year which films for max a month or 2 at stretch. Between that they get lot of down time to work on themselves so i guess its an on going process. Not like you cant indulge ever. Some off days are allowed to all. Also one plus the actors have is they have a non desktop job. They often engage in physical activities for their films like a dance practice or learning some sport. It’s definitely much harder than a desk job but its also much better for their bodies. Even as a commoner you need lot of restraint to maintain a healthy weight. Not like all those people who are slim and fit eat anything. Most people have a slow to average metabolism and it needs a lot of self control to maintain weight. Indian diets minus the oily and fried food are perfect to maintain a fit body. Keto is scientifically a bad diet and its published almost everywhere on internet by world renowned institutions . If their trainers are still doing it, it’s quite illogical.

But unlike Bulimia you don't do it after every meal or immediately after eating, right?

I think that's the difference between Vamana Dhauti and Bulimia

Bulimia ( harmful to the body) is throwing up immediately after the meal... Self induced vomit

This dhauti kriya (cleanses the system) is done every morning, then alternate days, then once a month or fortnight or something like that to remove undigested food, mucus and toxins... Don't think it's done immediately after eating...

That's what I heard... I could be wrong...

More than weight I wonder how Bollywood actresses manage PMS, PMDD, dysmenorrhea, fibroids, heavy periods, menopausal symptoms, pregnancy and post pregnancy hormonal changes or conditions like endometriosis.

How do they shoot songs in freezing cold or rain or transparent and skimpy clothes if they are on period? Do they take leave or postpone shooting such scenes then?

I read Sumona Chakravarti of Comedy Nights suffers from endometriosis. That is a very painful condition and causes weakness and fatigue besides clots and heavier periods. I wonder how she manages to shoot for her shows in such condition?

I read something about yesteryears Marathi actress Hansa Wadkar ( the movie Bhumika with Smita Patil was based upon her life)

During the shooting of a movie,, Wadkar wanted to be excused from a neck-deep water scene. Taking director Baburao Painter aside, she asked for a postponement, quietly hinting at her ongoing periods. Painter agreed, but soon forgot the conversation. As he signalled her to take the jump with her co-star, she couldn't muster the courage to remind him of her inconvenience in everyone's presence.

Rumor has it that Marilyn Monroe had endometriosis and refused to work during period

Period or not how do actresses work and dance in extreme weather conditions like snow, rain, heat barefoot and in flimsy clothing? While the heroes wear thick shoes and clothing...

Thanks for info. It must be really hard for actresses.

I often wonder how they manage to find proper toilet or place to change during shoots at far flung areas or when they are on their period.

This is an aspect they rarely discuss.

Bravo! Atominis...I am truly impressed (it takes a lot for me)

But bravo for openly saying, writing, asking... a fact of life Everyone ignores...even the most unyielding feminists never give credit to the reality of being a biological female, or they drag down other women...

Yes women in traditionally male performed industries or out and about in all kinds of geographical areas, be it Service to the nation (props here to them), or other jobs... all of them have to deal with extra issues that the male anatomy does not. Bottom line is that they do, they take care of business, and they get going with a smile, some even get going on stilettos and looking pretty...WOMEN are wonderful! and in extremely challenging cultures/countries/situations even more so. That is why true feminists are RARE as perfect diamonds.

I always wanted to ask but did not, due to fear of being trolled as a lot of women are uncomfortable discussing these issues.

But once I read an interview of Katrina in which she said 'there are days you do not want to get out of bed, but they make you wear a dress and shoot in freezing cold'. I felt if she was hinting at those days of the month?

I commend women for working in all conditions but always wondered how periods, PMDD, PCOD, dysmenorrhea, fibroids, cysts, endometriosis are managed or how they manage to shoot during pregnancy or get back to work post pregnancy dealing with post partum issues.

Only Shweta Tiwari once spoke about difficulty feeding her baby through the breaks she had during shoots and Smriti Irani spoke of miscarriage on sets of her show.

Otherwise women keep silent about the unique difficulties they have besides their safety, privacy and security shooting at far flung places.

All we discuss is just weight or appearance but not real issues women have since teens.

Nowadays there's Vanity van ( Poonam Dhillon introduced it here) so that's should not be a problem

But before the prevalence of VVs in BW they had it tough

Looking for toilets outdoors when shooting outdoors and studio toilets were in poor condition too, which usually is the case for public toilets in the country

And costume changes had to be done public too

I guess you have to be sturdy ( both physically and emotionally) to choose it as a career esp in those days)

Also as some here suggested smoking, drugs and alcohol helps

Most probably have IUD which means they either get very mild periods or no periods at all. Not sure how it impacts conditions like endometriosis though.

I highly doubt they get periods as they are always on strict diet. When i was on strict diet, i missed my periods for 5 months as i became too weak. Doctor advised me to eat as much as i can to get my periods back. It took me around a month of eating and finally getting them back.
