I have never seen any film in recent times get glorious reviews like 83. If it has not translated into footfalls, the answer is clear, the critics were paid sumptously to over praise.

Seeing the hype about the movie i thought the movie may underperform🤔

I read somewhere (in the Forum itself, I think) that all the cricketers from the actual cricket team of 83 were paid handsomely. Besides, shooting itself and hence, the associated operating costs thereof must have been pretty expensive considering the fact that the world cup final sequence was shot in the Lords itself.

Besides, as the release got postponed for about a year and a half than its initial scheduled date, financing Bank's interests and other financial obligations must have gone up similarly as inflation adjustment must have bloated the cost further..

It is a massive flop for Ranveer Singh. Ranveer Singh is not a bonafide superstar. He is a very talented actor, but he doesn't have the mass audience at all. He shouldn't be making big films at all right now unless it is SLB, Hirani, Rajamouli or Rohit Shetty.

Ranveer is known for his wackiness. Who in their mind decided to cast him for a sports drama smh?!. People expect a different kind of cinema from ranveer , this character does not match his image at all. I would've watched the movie if someone who is known for character acting like rkr,vicky, or someone from the same lot had done it. No way i am paying for a ranveer movie and not getting to see him dance or be funny

Not necessarily...There are movies like FAN and Lootere which got amazing reviews but didn't work at the BO...unless a movie has mass appeal too ...it won't work even if it is a good movie.....I was just saying that the covid excuse doesn't make sense...if 2 other movies are minting money in the same situation...

This should have been an easy blockbuster. How did they screw up this? 😆
