Tina in KKHH was a twisted character.

Committing suicide by giving birth to a child despite knowing it would kill her. As if adoption or surrogacy doesn't exist. Leaving her husband as a widow.

Leaving her newborn child without a mother who would forever feel guilty for her mother's death.

All this still wasn't enough, that she also asked her eight year old daughter to fix her father's love life.

Tina not only knew that Rahul won't move on after 8 years since her death, but also that Anjali won't have got married all these years until her daughter reads her letter.

Leave the fact that Anjali was indeed getting married. Tina expected her eight year old daughter to not only understand complex things like love, friendship and emotions, but also giving her an impossible task of uniting her father to a woman she never knew.

Some kids of that age still get their bed wet.

Imagine if Anjali (Tina's daughter) was not able to fulfill her mother's wish? It just would've added to her guilt that she couldn't even fulfill the last wish of her dead mother. The kid would've grown with a lot of issues if she had failed to reunite Rahul and Anjali.

People shit alot on Rahul for being superficial and even on Anjali for choosing him over Aman. But never seen Tina being criticized when she's easily the worst character in the movie.

No wonder this film hasn't aged well and even KJO makes fun of it. Because it's indeed really stupid.

The movie revolved around Rahul's narcissism and how everybody else dropped everything to feed his ego. Tina was such a devoted lover to him that she risked her life to give him a child was what the film was trying to say. The worst thing about her are the letters. What kind of a mother writes such letters to a little girl and drags her child into drama from college ? And the granny thought nothing of letting the girl read that crap.

Before the leap, it seemed he did love her..but maybe after marriage, he started making her feel he is still hung up on Anjali?? Otherwise, if he loved her and she loved him, she had no reason to be so guilty that despite living together with Rahul, she couldn't even focus her present with him and started thinking about Rahul being alone after her demise! And whether she would die or not was all just a possibility right, assuming she didn't have any other illness except risk of maternal death. She could have divorced him and united him with Anjali without dying herself!!

Tina was alone hurting and feeling guilty for coming in between them when the fault wasn't hers at all! It's not the case like Bodyguard movie's Kareena's friend who had to hide the big secret..

Kkhh was an indianized 1987 movie Some kind of wonderful written by John Hughes... It has the same tomboy bff and hot gf like kkhh... I bet you karan johar saw that movie and decided to add his masala.... I am actually surprised that there is no article in The mainstream media about this.. Guess not many indians have watched SKOW

KKHH is a garbage film which became hit solely due to its cast, music, marketing.

I always found it weird why a mother would share all detials of her and father's love life to a merely 7-8 year old kid.

Or expect such a young kid to reunite her father with her former college friend. Or share her guilt with her kid. Imagine how weird and traumatizing it is for a kid to know her mother feels guilty about marrying her father. Kids love both parents equally.

What would Anjali feel like if she could not fulfil wish of her mother?

I found it weird why daughter was named after father's college friend.

It is too much emotional burden for a child of that young age to fix up dad's love life.

And I hated it why Rani's character had so much guilt that she almost developed a death wish and embraced that risky pregnancy which could result in her death.

I think Karan Johar is a conservative and regressive type. He would never glorify surrogacy.

I hated sexism, homophobia and communalism in KKHH. That sardar kid by Ruslaan is a caricature used to repeat 12 baj gaye jokes against sardars. It was disgusting.

And no Rahul is no hero. Women do not need to wear short skirts or have their saree pallu blown by wind to finally seem attractive or get ignored otherwise.

I also do not like guilt Salman and Kajol feel while getting married just befause there is puppy eyed SRK and his weeping mother and daughter around. Why should they feel they were doing something wrong?

Everyone except that narc and self obsessed Rahul feels guilty in that film.

KKHH abounds in absurdities and plotholes.

But in Tina's defense, maybe they found out about the delivery risk quite late in the pregnancy. Many pregnancies do start out and proceed normally for several months and complications crop up in later phases. I don't know about India, but in the states, late-term abortion is much harder to get. Sometimes there is a small probability of successful delivery and women do carry on with the hope of success - but make arrangements just in case.

But overall most events in the movie are unrealistic and bizarre.

Yeah. Traumatising your daughter and making her go through so much stress just because you have some weird obsession with bringing your husband and his university friend together.

The music was the only good thing about this film.

Also no idea how everyone kept falling for Rahul. He only loved himself and nobody else.

I have a hard time understanding why anyone would seek for logic in a silly rom-com made by Kjo. It's like watching a Disney cartoon and complaining about the unidimensional character or asking "How come Aladdin is flying on a carpet without gravity affecting him"?

It's just a silly KJo movie. And no the movie wasn't garbage, only the storyline was. Everything from the acting to the music to the direction to execution was top notch.
