When the first 🌊 of corona hit India, cinema halls were shut down for months and when they opened back, Bollywood didn't dare to release any big films.
They started doing it with Roohi and Mumbai Saga but then a deadlier second 🌊 of the virus hit the country and Bollywood again went inside it's 🐚.
Now again cinema halls are shut. Now we don't know when it would open again. Since corona hit us harder this time, most probably it won't open before the end of this year.
That leaves Bollywood and other film industries with two options. Either release their films on OTT or postpone their films to next year. Producers with big budgeted films who have confidence that their movies would do well at box office would postpone it. The rest would take the OTT route if they can no longer afford to postpone their projects.
This would most likely make Roohi the highest grosser of the year with lifetime collections of 25 Crores. Last time the highest grossing film of the year, whose lifetime collections were lower than 25 Crores was Aankhen, which released 28 years ago in 1993. It's lifetime collections were 13 Crores and it was an All Time Blockbuster.
2020 has been the worst year for Bollywood's box office in it's history, but Tanhaji being a Blockbuster with lifetime collections of 269 Crores was one silver lining.
2021 most probably won't even be able to save it's face with it's highest grosser either.
This also means Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor for the first time, would have their film as the "highest grossing movie of the year".😆Although this record would mean nothing.😆
