And Kareena's hits are way more well known than Karisma's. Since neither is a crowd puller according to you, doesn't matter who starred with them.

It does matter to me because Kareena can't be credited for the success of 3 Idiots, Bodyguard, Bajrangi Bhaijaan or K3G because her co-stars in those movies where much bigger stars than her.

Same can't be said about Karisma in Raja Hindustani, HSSH and Biwi No 1.

But I mean that's mainly because Kareena's movies are more recent. Karishma's peak was like 25 years ago. Honestly, 25 years later, who is going to care about stuff like Veere Di Wedding? It's not like Govinda and David Dhawan can do much to help her.

Agreed that it's not the best comparison. I guess just on the basis of longevity Kareena stands out. And tbh, not just in comparison to Kareena but a lot of other actresses Kareena has broken rules. I mean there's maybe one year she took off (after taimur), but literally has had films back to back. In an industry that tosses women out the min they're married or have children, or where most have to struggle to to make a "come back", I consider careee longevity a form of success

The movies of kareena's mentioned are her movies..as in she was the biggest selling point for all of these..you are making it seem that karisma was the same deal for Hum Saath..Raja Hindustani and Biwi no.1..which is far far the case..Hum Saath was a multistarrer with equally big stars..Biwi again had salman and he was no Arjun Kapoor in 1999..he was still a gigantic star..and same was the case with Aamir in Raja Hindustani

if one is giving credit to karisma for these..then i would also mention Body Guard..Golmaal 3

if comparisons are being made where she truly was the selling point then for every Ki and Ka..Veere and JWM..ill compare those with karisma's movie where she was the similar deal which rode primarily on her. movies like Yeh Silsila hai Pyar ka..Fiza..Shakti..and the BO for all of these is much much lower.

I'm glad Kareena is ambitious and kept working but the industry does not toss out married women. It's an old wives-tale but it isn't true. Even back in the day Jaya and her own mother in law Sharmila Tagore kept working after marriage. Some of Kajol's most significant films - K3G, Fanaa, My Name is Khan - all came after marriage and kids. She turned down big movies like 3 Idiots. Madhuri was married and pregnant during Devdas. Juhi Chawla shot with a full pregnant belly for Jhankaar Beats.

A lot of actresses did retire but it's mainly because they wanted to. When they're already rich, a lot of women would prefer to stay home and take care of their kids. Everyone just isn't that ambitious and when money isn't an issue, it's easy to quit and take it easy.

Kareena is also genuinely lucky IMO. A lot of today's heroes are really old which has opened up a path for older actresses because they need women opposite them. They can't keep on going any younger at this point. If only Ranbir/Ranveer/Tiger types were working, she would have had a much harder time.

Kudos to Kareena but the 90s actresses had a lot more challenges that she didn't have to face.
