Salman, traumatised lover
in friend-in-need Saawan Kumar Tak's new film
Kunal M Shah
Who knows how the heart and mind of a star work? Especially when the star in question is the ever unpredictable Salman Khan. Check out the latest look of the controversy-riddled actor.
No, he is not re-playing his Tere Naam persona; this is how he will appear in pal Saawan Kumar Tak's film which he has agreed to do for free. Salman plays a traumatised lover (hence the long locks and dishevelled appearance) whose girlfriend dies. Saloni plays the leading lady opposite him in the film which is due for release in January next year.
Salman last worked with Tak in Sanam Bewafa and Chand ka Tukda almost 14 years ago. The new film Saawan that they are doing together is currently being shot in Mumbai.
Salman, who was initially supposed to shoot for only six days for the film, has ended up doing a 22-day run. Tak is overwhelmed by his friend's generosity. He says, "I have known Salman for many years now. Of late my films have not met with success. I needed Salman for this film so I approached him. He offered me money and said that he would give me whatever I needed. But I did not want money. I needed him to make a special appearance in the film. He asked me about the character and once I narrated it, he agreed immediately. He got into the skin of the character and ended up shooting for 22 days. He did not take a single penny for the film."
The role demanded that Salman grow long hair and a beard. Apparently he did just that for eight days before renouncing the look in favour of a clean-shaven one for his next film.
"That was really nice of him. In fact, on the last day of the shoot, he came on the sets at 10 in the morning and left only at 7 the next morning," adds Tak.
