If Kartik didn't like his co-star or the script of the film then he shouldn't have signed on to it. Creative differences is what's normally cited before you start filming. Sure it happens after and in some cases a star is big enough or they've invested enough money they let the star have their way, or the star isn't powerful enough and the director/producer has their way. In this case it looks to be a power struggle and KJO is willing to swallow 20cr and recast.

This is exactly what I think happened. He signed onto Dostana because it was his entry into the Dharma camp. Meanwhile, his star started rising and he got a lot more offers. Even nepo babies like Sara and Jahnvi were drooling over him. It would inflate anyone's ego.

He must have gotten cold feet for sure about playing a gay character especially when he had better and more conventional offers available. He probably thought he can make them change the script so that he doesn't have to play gay anymore.

It was a power struggle and Kartik was playing hardball by not giving dates and causing problems so that they would relent and let him have his way. Since filming had already started, all the power was in his hands. And to be fair, BW actors interfere in scripts all the time and changes happen during filming sometimes. If a bigger star or one of his favorite nepo babies had done this, Karan would have just given them what they wanted and finished the film even if he wasn't happy about it. But KJo would have been pissed that this new guy has such a huge ego and was trying to play politics and arm twist him into doing what he wants. He probably got sick of the tantrums and kicked him out and took a loss rather than give in to Kartik's demands.

So he didn't realize the nepo kid who he was dating at the time for publicity (after dating other nepo kids for publicity) was going to be his co-star and being Sridevis daughter was going to get a lot of press? And he realized this after shooting half the movie and after breaking up with her?

I totally forgot Karthik was in that movie. I thought it was a 3-heroine project with Queen Bhumi, Empress Ananya and Jhansi Ki Rani Kriti.

KJo gave hints, and social media took it up.

It is the same pattern. Rumors of meddling and unprofessional behavior and skirt chasing. Nothing concrete which could get Dharma sued for libel. Include script meddling, too, this time around.

Plant enough such gossip so other producers will be wary.

To top it off, Karthik is not a great actor.

Final step: boot him from the social cliques.

Public can recognize the tactic. So KJo knows he will be attacked. So if he has something concrete, why not come out and say it? Why again hide behind rumors?

This whole episode stinks.

I can’t believe I am over here defending kartik because after what happened last year I don’t like this guy at all, on the hate side. But all I am saying is if other nepo have pushed dates for years and years, they have shown rude and unprofessional attitude towards others so why is it okay if nepo kids do it and not okay if he does it? I think they are all wrong for wasting producers money.

People will draw their conclusions. And this time around, the conclusions are very likely to be evenly split between the 2 warring parties.

In this case it's Janhvi he was dating and who was his co star in the stalled film.

Who's pushing dates for years in the middle of making a film while lying about why you have no dates and then giving it to a new movie?

As for treating insiders better. KJo (and Karan Maholtra) pushed Hrithik (an actor who gave him a Super Hit with Agneepath and who is supposedly a long time friend) out of Shruddhi while he was recuperating from brain surgery because his recovery and finishing Bang Bang would push back the start date by about 6 months.

BTW, that film never getting made is what I consider karma. 😎

I want to hear his side, maybe he refused to suck up to Kjo.
