They did the same with Ranbir's character in Rajneeti. He starts out with dark clothes and switches to shades of white as he becomes more corrupt. I read it in the book by the director Prakash Jha. Another reason was that Arjun on whom Ranbir's character is modeled, dresses in white.

I think it signifies that looks can be deceptive.

For some reason she just feels like a miscast.. The character personality doesn't suit her and she just seem out of place. While I would agree she isn't a bad actress and very expressive but you can clearly see that she is acting.. I think a good actor is when you cannot distinguish between actor and character.. Now I am not really fond of Priyanka but I feel like she could have nailed this. More than Alia it's Sub's fault.

Lowering your voice throughout a minute and half teaser, or possibly the whole movie, is not voice modulation. It’s just lowering your voice, to sound older I suppose. She is just more subtle about it than Shraddha and her tissue stuffing face.

Her baby face is too distracting. Alia trying to look serious didn’t work in Kalank and her trying to look menacing doesn’t work here. Her face is not made up for these type of characters and she doesn’t have the nuanced talent of working her expressions.

I’m guessing time constraints. Usually SLB spends months if not a year on pre-production. He and Alia started meeting for this movie literally within weeks of that Salman movie getting shelved and they started production maybe a couple of months later, if that. SLB didn’t have time to focus on and build sets.

Someone like Vidya, Pc or Kangu would have nailed this character. Alia is miscast.

Yeah that's possible...maybe they'll use VFX and fix it.

Exactly what I thought. Didnt find her intimidating or menacing at all - what she was trying to put across.

Have to say, I was one of the ones who def doubted how she will be able to pull this off, and she is looking and acting better than expected. I think what impressed me the most is her dialogue delivery, looking forward to it now👍🏼

The role should have gone to someone older with enough gravitas,presence and experience. Alia did her best. But it doesn't look as if she has seen enough of life. Same problem with Dear Zindagi.

Not necessarily older, just someone who looked the part. It's unfortunate that the younger lot doesn't have such actresses. Bhoomi or Taapsee probably would have looked better than Alia.... but I am not sure they could pull it off with their acting chops.

And then, not to forget, SLB wouldn't take up anyone who is not famous already. So there goes their chance😆
