Fitoor(2016) is a work of art?

Unpopular opinion maybe, but I loved the movie Fitoor. Based on Great Expectations, the movie acc. to me is a work of art, with certain wonderful elements which add a pinch of magic to the cinematic experience. Though it was considered a commercial and critical failure, I watched it in the theatre and fell in love with the way the movie incorporates artistic sensibility into a mainstream venture. Something about the way Aditya Roy Kapoor's character envisions Katrina's character is so poetic and surreal. Also, the texture of love portrayed is exquisitely ethereal, a tad removed from the commonplace.

Also, Katrina looks like a dream and Aditya Roy Kapoor is eye candy as well. But I don't just mean that the movie works at the visual level - the emotions are heartfelt too - love and loss and reconciliation depicted with maturity and pulsating with fervour.

It may not be the best adaptation of Great Expectations but the movie works at a raw, visceral level. And the music is SUBLIME. I think it was the second best soundtrack of 2016, after Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. The music has a haunting quality about it and the melody lingers long after you finish listening to the songs. Of course, Amit Trivedi the master composer is at his unique best here.

What is your opinion about this movie? I don't think most people liked it as much as I did😆

I find it lacking. It was supposed to be that great magnum ops but it failed to have tension. There was some good stuff (musique and scenaries)

I think Vishal Bardwaj would have done it better -even if he himself failed to delivered with Rangoon imo.

I agree, the music is amazing. I love this song the best, it's so beautiful it always bring a lump to my throat, everything about it is perfect

This one was indeed a great song. The music video is great too and for me the fact that it was copied from Sheeran's music video doesn't take away from it.

One thing one can't take away from Fitoor is the aesthetic.

Beautiful indeed, but it does fall short. Especially hated the addition not Ajay devgan .. should've gotten someone else

It fell short in some ways if you compare it to the book. But if you watch it just as a movie without knowledge of the book, I believe one will love the movie. Nonetheless, I loved it (everything about it).

It's probably not everyone's cup of tea, but who cares? I like what I like & appreciate it for what it is! 😊

I have not seen it, but the 'Tried & Refused Productions' channel recommended giving it another shot. Tbh, when the trailers came out, I totally imagined ARK, Katrina Kaif, and Tabu to be Pip, Estella, and Miss Havisham.

Nope it was a terrible movie equally ruined by terrible lead actors! Heck even Tabu was pretty bad!
