1. Rahul and Anjali (Kuch Kuch Hota Hai) - I'm torn about this one because I (like many I guess?) felt that Rahul's 'love' was merely at an attraction level. Yes, they were indeed best friends and they knew each other well; the care aspect of their bond might be the factor that sustains the marriage but it feels like the mutual romance part won't last for long. I feel like Rahul would get over his 'feelings' soon. I'd say no to their love surviving but yes to their marriage surviving because I doubt Rahul would resort to divorce even if he feels like the love isn't there anymore. I'm not sure if Anjali would decide on letting go if she feels that he doesn't feel it back though. Plus there's Anjali 2.0 who'll be a major deciding factor.
2. Bunny and Naina (Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani) - As much as it breaks my heart to say this, I doubt they'd make it. I feel that Naina would be the one who'd make more concessions and the major ones. Eventually she'd be unhappy and Bunny would be frustrated with that kind of behaviour and responsibility because it does seem like travel is what genuinely ignites all the cells in his body. This is a classic case of love isn't enough imo :/
3. Sid and Ayesha (Wake Up Sid) - I feel like this would work. There'll probably be fights but they'd talk it out and the conflicts won't be systematic because I feel like Sid's character development has been such that he'd drop the ego and communicate. Ayesha is mature, understanding and pretty lenient which is another plus. Their core bond is peaceful and this just works â¤ď¸
4. Vanraj and Nandini (Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam) - They'd absolutely work. They scream stability and traditionalism. Not the kind of people who'd get existential crises. Plus based on their characters, I feel like they know each other thoroughly enough to get through any rough patch that might arise.
5. Arjun and Laila (Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara) - Yes they would. I feel like Arjun has been enlightened enough about his authentic self and knows Laila's value in his life. Imo, theirs is the kind of connection that seems strong enough to survive long distance. Laila is chill and empathetic, and Arjun is head over heels for her. From his experiences, he'll definitely give his best to make it work. And idk if you've seen their deleted scene from the movie but they seem like they'd communicate enough. They know each other's nature and love each other.
6. Kabir and Preeti (Kabir Singh) - Pretty sure it will work. These two seem so passionate about each other that it's hard to tell if the usual "passion fizzes out after marriage" will happen đ It's their personalities themselves. They might break up several times but they'll end up patching up again because they're obsessed with each other. In fact I feel like they'll actually need break-ups for their relationship to work. And they seem very capable of initiating them. Toxicity galore đ
7. Ved and Tara (Tamasha) - Yes. I feel like Ved is now pretty much conscious of his identity and of what he actually wants. And if he derails (which I highly doubt since his root trauma has been tackled), Tara's helpful, patient, stable nature and love for him are not gonna let her give up on him. All of the existential things aside, these are two people who can sit with each other without a single word while relishing silence that can never get awkward. Plus they're both crackpots with vivid imagination so they aren't gonna get bored during the relationship.
8. Kabir and Farah (Dil Dhadakne Do) - No. I feel like this was attraction more than anything else. Very low chances.
9. Vikram and Mili (Khoobsurat) - YES. One, Mili is an empathetic, communicating sweetheart who won't ruminate over hanging matters and will seedha seedha speak about them, while Viku is in love with all of her, including the differences. And vice versa of course. Helps that both their sasural wale are super chill.
10. Raj and Pooja (Mujhse Dosti Karoge) - In normal times, I'd say no because I feel like the boredom would eventually slide into the relationship, but these specific characters are too unidimensional for any kind of debate đ So yes, they'd be cheesy and it would work.
11. Chirag and Bitti (Bareilly Ki Barfi) - Yes! Both individually stable individuals who found exactly what their hearts were seeking â¤ď¸
12. Dev and Maya (Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna) - Idk if I'm the only one but I feel like the idea of forbidden love ignited this bond more than anything else. I feel like things will fizz out once they start living with each other. No to this one.
13. Surinder and Taani (Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi) - Yes. Taani's character was really that weird and half-baked so wouldn't be shocked if it does work. Tujh mein rab dikhta hai and all âť
14. Manu and Tanu (Tanu Weds Manu) - I feel like it would be a tumultuous ride but they'll eventually last, yes.
15. Rohan and Pooja (K3G) - Yes, I feel like their whole quest to reunite Rahul and the family had reinforced the deepest kind of bond they might have had, taking into consideration the depth of their characters that has been showcased đ They'd work. Plus they're both basically family-oriented and pretty simple at heart.
16. Jai and Aditi (Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na) - YES YES YES. Just one word: soulmates â¤ď¸
17. Prem and Poonam (Vivah) - A big, corny yes đ
18. Veer and Zoe (Love Aaj Kal 2) - No. At least at the point where we were left in the movie. Zoe still seems confused to me and I don't think that she's at a point where she's actually stable enough/has tackled her demons to know if she actually chooses Veer over her career. I feel like she'd gravitate towards her career sometimes, resulting in conflicts and Veer would be worn out making concessions every time.
19. Rahul and Kamini (Salaam-E-Ishq) - No. The differences would eventually creep in and they'd grow apart.
20. Aman and Kartik (Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan) - Yes!
