Gosh, when will Aish fans finally get over that she wasn't part of the movie? Almost every 2 weeks there are similar topics.

Aishwarya was not the first choice for Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Should fans of the actresses who were first offered the film make a thread about it every week?

The article mentions Aish, and I wrote I can't imagine anyone else doing Preity's role. What's so hard to comprehend about that?

Interesting that you say that. I loved Preity and her effervescent persona in every film- even the bad ones but Veer Zaara is the only film I thought she was miscast in.

Ash would have been great- Rani too would have been excellent- somehow I cant imagine Preity pining away for someone her whole life (I kind of mean that as a compliment to her strong persona!)

Maybe Preity and Rani should've switched roles.

I haven't watched the movie in quiet some time, but I always kind of felt Rani's role was good, but Preity's role was more meaty and memorable. Rani was great in her job and she has also done a lot of bubbly kind of roles, but the first few scenes about Punjabi culture etc suited Preity better. One thing I have never liked is Rani in a Punjabi character roles. Even in Hadippa, it felt weird to me. Whereas even though Kajol is Bengali, she still manages to nail Punjabi roles like in K3G. It's just my opinion, maybe if I watch it again, I will feel differently.
