What new comments do you want people to make about Deepika every single time you say the same things? 🤔

At least better than being here just to talk politics and bash Bollywood without any rhyme or reason.

You obviously couldn't have been a fan of hers before OSO. Who even knew her before it?

Frankly to me Bollywood has produced only one actress worth her weight in salt and that is Tabu. No one else I think will come close. I want to be pleasantly surprised. So every time there is an actress on the block, I compare her career with Tabu. I watch like 5/6 movies and I can tell you with absolute no bias, Deepika is not even anywhere close.

Watch Tabu’s range and growth from her first movie on. She had a great teacher in Gulzar early on - when she did Maachis and Hu Tu Tu. But she did a Vijaypath, Biwi No 1 and a Hum Saath Saath. She has done something for everyone since the beginning. The year she did Hera Pheri, she did Astitva. I can go on and on.... what I gave you is only a 90s glimpse.

To me an Indian actress should be able to hold a candle to her and NOBODY is there, yet....

Let me mention something here. I was not a fan of hers when OSO came out. In fact, I was rooting for the underdog Sonam.

Years later, I watched Cocktail and her entry scene stole my breath away. Right from the body language to the way she emoted in that movie left me breathless. A star-actress was born, and I have only grown more and more fond of her as time passed. A few years later, I saw Piku. In that movie, she was insanely good. That before-last movie scene with Irfaan at the coffee table - whoever says she can't act should watch that on repeat.

I personally thought she was exemplary in both Piku and Tamasha. In Tamasha, the way she soaked in the character was nothing short of marvellous. OMG and the scene in which she rejects the engagement ring. What an immortal moment on celluloid, with pitch-perfect acting.

Yes, she fell short in Padmaavat but to me she redeemed herself with Chapaak. She completely disappeared into the character, and left no traces of Deepika but just melted into Malti with such ease and understated grace.

Let's be objective: Deepika is a gift to the film industry and she is that rare combination of beauty and talent which comes once in a blue moon.

Discuss.

I agree with pretty much all of this. Including Sonam, I thought she was better than Deepika in 2007.

To answer your question: jealousy. Mostly.

Any actress that makes it to number one has the most haters. Look at Alia now, she's the most hated/trolled. She's also the current most talented, most popular, most in demand actress.

She is an average actress and I liked her in OSO. She’s fine.. but seriously I don’t get the hype around her beauty.. she can look pretty but.. ok

This. This. A Thousand Times This.

Anyway whatever the case, it's a CRYING SHAME that at the peak of her career she's done 2 films in the last 5 years.

Things have definitely improved for "married actresses over age 31" but we (Bollywood) have a long way to go.

Where are the roles for this beautiful talented being??? She's only 34. I hope we don't have to wait for her to be 40+ to have some good roles like an English Vinglish or Mardaani 2 :(
