The effort she puts in her songs/dances, if she had applied the same effort to acting, she would have done wonders

I love her expressions in her songs...have always wondered why she is so stiff in emotional/dramatic scenes

I liked her performance in Zero, it was something completely unforeseen for me

The same problem with her and Salman, they are so popular without doing much, so they didn't work on their acting.

Kat only worked because of our obsession as Indians with fair skin/Eurocentric beauty standards. It obv helps that she’s tall, a decent dancer and good looking too. I’ve never really been impressed by her acting and I don’t think it’s because she’s lazy and doesn’t try, I just think she hasn’t got it in her.

If you observe her acting you can see that she does actually try, (and she has improved from her terrible acting in her early days tbf) but really good acting is just not something she's capable of looks like...

Kat would have been a Nora Fatehi (known only for dancing and looks) if it wasn't for Bhai giving her all these roles

No, I think she does the best she can. She's a hard worker and she has improved a lot since her initial films but this is it.

Anyone could become a really good actor/actress if they choose to. Acting skills are not God's gift. They can be learned.

I like her in movies where the director uses her smartly - in ZNMD, she’s there for just the right amount of screen time. One of my fav scenes in ZNMD is when Hrithik and Kat are talking about the meaning of life etc, and all her reaction shots etc have been shot smartly. Yea her diction is off but once you get used to it, it’s fine really.

Another movie is Zero, in which Anand Rai showed her vulnerability well. Of course the role is semi-autobiographical cuz it is clearly a take on her and Ranbir and their past etc, but she doesn’t become the face of the movie and in her limited screentime you wonder if she’ll come back etc.

On the other hand, when you watch Fitoor and Baar Baar Dekho, the way Kat is shot changes. In her emotional scenes with Sid, Kat falls apart cuz Nitya Mehra isn’t as skilled as Zoya.
Also, she looks great in songs because choreographers understand her USP and use it appropriately... Tees Maar Khan doesn’t work but Sheila ki Jawani and Wallah Wallah is another example of the way Farah has both choreographed and directed the same actress. So her songs become memorable but movies not so much.

Acting like any art is more than skill or craft. One can study and practice the craft diligently and maybe become an OK or even good but you need more than that to be really good or great.

The only movie where i found her suitable was namastey london. But she can't act period.

No, I agree she's a good (amazing) dancer and is really very hard working but the dialogue delivery is really awkward/annoying. I wonder how she couldn't learn basic hindi pronounciation even after working in hindi cinema for loong
