That’s always there. Something is successful it needs to be recreated and re done. Even if the remake takes the genuineness out

This cult stuff is not just in bollywood. It’s in entertainment everywhere

It is called the X-factor. The certain je ne sais quoi some people have allows them to succeed even when they may not be as talented or skilled as some of their peers.

It's in every field not only in Bollywood.

Yup, because ppl expect them to “play to the gallery” and expectations/stakes get higher/riskier with every successful film and most ppl usually tend to take the safer route if they have more to lose, kinda thing

I never said Deepika is a great actress but there is a connection between her acting skills and the time she achieved superstardom (from Cocktail onwards).

Whereas there is no connection between acting and superstardom of Salman and Katrina.

I am making 2 separate points here, not to be confuse with each other.

But it was the same for Kat.. she got big when she had a couple of prominent roles/movies (Mere brother ki Duhan, ZNMD) around 2011 and that whole Sheila ki deal.. which added a lot to the hype.. Sometimes, I feel like Kat gets harshly judged cuz she’s a foreigner, idk? 😁

Plus, I think achieving “stardom” in BW has got less to do with the acting acting.. it’s more about the impact, hype and role prominence etc.. like Kiara Advani suddenly becoming a big deal after Kabir Singh, lol

LMAO...people talk as if superstar banna toh is a child's play.....the people who are good actors ....oh they do all the hard work but superstar ka kya hai...koi bhi ban jaayega....kitna aasaan hai...to rule millions of hearts....bachhon ka khel

People forget that superstars are extraordinary people...that is why they are superstars ....superstardom is anything but mediocrity....far far from being average...

But ab na woh charm hai...na woh connection hai...na woh extraordinary personality hai.....na woh superstardom hai....issliye...superstardom breeds mediocrity is a good notion ...dil behlane ko..😆

Superstardom is the ability to create an image that the masses like or can relate to. For example, SRK in the 90s' was able to create a charming romantic lover boy image that women loved. Salman did the same with Chulbul Pandey, another character that masses of men loved.

Specifically, to answer your question, the masses are mediocre. Therefore they won't be able to relate to anything that is not mediocre. Hence, yes. Superstardom does promote mediocrity. SRK himself confirms this in many of his interviews when he states that the reason for his superstardom is that he was able to win the love of the masses by creating this specific image.

All the superstars understand this is what made them superstars. Even Naseeruddin Shah (who was jealous of Amitabh Bachchan), admitted in his interviews that he never had the mass appeal (looks or charm) of Amitabh Bachchan, in spite of being a better artist than him.

Desis have too much self-hate IMO As if HW doesn’t celebrate mediocrity

when Dwayne Johnson/Vin Diesel blows up cars or beats up 50 men - It’s cool/badass

When Tiger Shroff/Salman does the same thing - everyone becomes a physics teacher

An ironically The Rock or Salman types become much more famous than these "great actors"

This has nothing to do with superstar or falna dinkana.

At the end of the day it all boils down to entertainment. If the movie is entertaining people will watch be it masala or parallel cinema.

People don't always worship superstar or else gems like tubelight or race zero won't be torn apart😆

Which was the last cult film that Bollywood made?

Shed some light, folks. Is it Laapata Ladies, or something else? I loved Laapata Ladies for its simplicity but it was not groundbreaking or...
