Which is worse?

Which is worse: a great actor with a bad script, or a bad actor with a great script?

We all agree that the ultimate combination of a great script teamed with a great actor is bliss. You are delighted in every way after watching the movie.

But what happens when you have a great actor with a bad script( e.g. Rajkumar Rao in his recent outings) or a bad actor with a great script (e.g. Varun in October)? Which is worse for you and why?

Good actor bad script combo is worse.. I can make do with a bad actor if the direction, dialogues, costars and storyline is strong

I wouldn't waste my time on either. Better save my time for a good film with a great cast.

Bad actor with good script for sure. You can clearly imagine what a more capable actor would have brought to the table and how they would have lifted the film to another level. But in reality the role was wasted on an incompetent actor.

Good actor in bad scripts happen all the time and is still tolerable. Sometimes if the script is too bad/silly you can just have a good laugh watching the film.

If we're talking leads and not supporting characters - a great lead actor can elevate a bad script and still make a film entertaining. A bad lead actor with a great script only drags the entire film down and worse wastes a valuable rare commodity - a great script. It's the same with directors.
