One way to guess way would be to extrapolate the fate of recent SRK films. Not sure how correct would that be.

No, it wouldn't have worked.

Everything is cliched and contrived. Right from the plot to the characters.

DDLJ influenced Bollywood cinema alot and invented many new tropes which later got copied in every other romantic movie umpteen times.

So if DDLJ released in 2020, that means it didn't release in 1995. Then the biggest question is how would've been the face of Bollywood cinema today without the influence of DDLJ? SRK might not even be that big of a Superstar which he's today if DDLJ didn't get made at the right time.

There are too many what ifs to give any real answer here.

Who knows.. honestly if a movie like DDLJ released today, i would pay double the money to see it😆 I am so bored of realistic cinema and social messages that if a fluff simple cutesy movie comes, I will grab it with both hands😆

Word!

I was saying precisely the same thing the other day in some other thread. People are tired of realistic cinema, one of the reasons why Baahubali was such a blockbuster!

would it have been a success

how are u all celeb 25 years of DDLJ 👏

They wouldn't have made the same movie in the first place.....a girl brought up in London....will listen to her Dad and be ready to get married to a guy she never saw and be in a village in India for the rest of her life....while her Mom would meekly say haan ji haan ji....yeah ...It would have flopped the first day....but the makers know the audience....they made it then...they won't do it now..😆

I hate realistic cinema....as if I don't have my own problems to deal with that I would go and watch the same for 3 hours on screen after paying money......my life is a realistic cinema.....and I watch cinema to escape from the daily grind..😆

Tell me about it. All this thesis on acting vacting is okay to some extent but the real reason people watch movies is for entertainment and to have some time out from their regular daily grind, which the current lot of movies are clearly failing to provide. I am tired of realistic, inspirational, message oriented, self righteous, preachy kind of cinema. They are good as a change but if EVERY DARN movie is like that then it does become tedious.

Wese Humpty Sharma ki Dulhaniya was loosely based on this only😆 it did quite well.. So DDLJ would have been brushed as we current trends and done well too

Karna hi kia hai.. have Simran and Raj make out before they part ways in London.. Have Kuljeet be a childhood friend that Simran was engaged to and had no issues.. and have Simran not give a darn to her father and climb on the train herself

Edit: forgot to add.. Have Simran smoke, drink, dance and be merry while traveling alone.. and for added tarka make Raj the guy she sleeps with as a last affair of her single life before actually falling for him
