People don't get cured of mental illnesses overnight. It's ludicrous.. especially such developmental disorders. Its insane, it takes years of therapy and professionals not a WIFE! There were in no way fit to be married.

They definitely weren't fit...

But they didn't get cured overnight.. it was a long process of therapy, care and dealing with the mental trauma that caused their condition

Sadhna married Alekh for her sister so she didn't think of nullifying the wedding

In case of Koshish, the wife actually does go to court for divorce but doesn't go ahead with it because she got attached to the guy

In both the cases, it's not really the wife who cured but it was more that the wife refused to accept the husband's condition as it was and tried to cure them while the families didn't really do anything to cure them

It's not about whether they get cured or not. It shows how little people know about mental illness and disorders in general. What they showed were sort of developmental disorders along with illness. There is no cure for most severe mental disorders, especially something that started since childhood. No one can get 100% cured even after years of therapy. People who have autism and Asperger's on the lower side of spectrum go through a life time of therapy from their childhood to adulthood, don't get completely normal. (Even the ones that can have r/ps).

The human brain mostly gets formed by young adulthood. That's why disorders and mental illnesses require early intervention. The marriage would be illegal and null & void in itself. Divorce is out of the question. There is no sense in the tv shows. At least, KMG is a fantasy movie.

My problem is the tv shows stink of social stigma, ignorance and misogyny which is problematic.

However, the girl of course gets full sympathy

I blame his mother more for getting him this gudiya without realizing the consequences.. and the girl was wrong to agree to be that gudiya.. not saying k the girl should be blamed.. In no way is she liable to be nice to the guy or even stay with him.. but she shouldn't have married him either
