The best method actor in India???

Don’t know much about method acting, but from what I know any actor with strong background in theatre is expected to follow the method. No wonder, people with theatre background are zillion times better actors than the rest. As a viewer I fee that RKR is a very good actor compared to the rest of the crop. However, I don’t think he has that strong of a theatre background but I might be wrong as I don’t really know much about the backgrounds of actors.

There aren't many in BW, but following actors could be considered method actors to an extent, having delivered so many distinct performances.

Aamir Khan
Rajkumar Rao
Rani Mukerji
Randeep Huda
Vidya Balan
R Madhavan
Ali Faizal

There are a few other actors though, from the "supporting" category I'd like to mention.

Paresh Rawal
Naseeruddin Shah

Himani Shivpuri

Contrary to popular belief, I don't think Nawaz is a nuanced method actor. He seem to be playing similar kind of roles OR at least same kind of emotions over and over again (not denying his credibility though. He's superb👏).

Interesting list. I do tend to agree about Nawaz, I think he is more instinct driven than method and he really needs to do something fresh and different. Irrfan was a master at this- constantly reinventing the wheel.

Is Vidya also a method actor? Never really heard her talk about her process

Tabu. She prepares well for each of her roles. Naseer is one too.

Irfan and SSR were too method actors. Spent a great deal of effort and time in studying the character.

RKR.

Shahid Kapoor. He went bald for real to play Haider role and spent quite good amount of time with Kashmiri people, he also studied human psychology to understand the character better. Shahid literally had to smoke 20+ cigarettes a day in order to prepare himself for Kabir Singh role, that caused him a lots of weight loss. And then he had to regain most of his weights to play the college boy part. These were not any easy tasks. Shahid basically have been experimenting for every role that he has been playing. Now he's all preparing himself for Jersey so that he looks suitable as a cricketer and a 10-years old boy's dad in the film. That's the reason why Shahid chooses less scripts so that he can stay focused on a certain character and represent it in the best way.
