Racism is racism. There's no point comparing it to elitism and what not. There are different vices in the world, but some are clearly worse than others.

Racism and communal hate are clearly worse. That's wishing ill onto someone else and holding disdain in heart for someone.

Discrimination and oppression based on people's class and family background is just as bad as racism. It's not as rampant in the US and yeah, people speak more passionately against racism globally but there are plenty of crimes that are carried out in the indian subcontinent based on class differences. People get beaten to death because they're from a lower class and dared to marry a girl from a higher social class, for example. Just because there isn't a clear delineation of class and elitism in society and the repercussions aren't publicized by news channels doesn't make it any better than racism.

I'm not twisting the narrative, I've already said what I had to say on bollywoodbuff's comment that you took issue with and have nothing more to add on that front.

If you carefully listen to him:

1. He's just stating that it was tone deaf on his part, he's too privileged to be talking about privilege, it was a mistake to say that, etc. Never once does he say that he doesn't believe in what he wrote. My inference is, he still believes in the concept of races, the way horses maintain their race and winners are frequently used to get good breed racing horses, he still thinks humans also behave like that. A pure superior race will bred much better breed of humans. This is downright racism out there in his head.

2. What's that crap about Greek mythology. I've read The Odyssey (not completed, I admit) but what has that got to do with nepotism? Was he just trying to sound cool there?

3. My, again inference, is that Kareena agrees with his take on nepotism. He mentioned Kareena agrees usually with his thoughts. Then was about to clarify her stand on this issue, when he suddenly maybe envisioned her standing with a stick glaring at her, and backed off and blurted some gibberish to end that line. 😂

I mean it's okay to be a closet racist (not), but one shouldn't feel bad when called out as such....

That's what i thought..half-assed apology because he is embarrassed .. he thought he made BIG philosophical arguments in favour of nepotism but it fell flat on his face..and people called him out, including a "female journalist" who works for Elle..

but i guess there is always a bigger misogynist in the world and bigger racist..so lets all give him a break..

Yup. I don't have anything against Saif, or Kareena for that matter. What I wrote was merely my observation on this topic.

And yes, I know bigger racists and bigger misogynists, some in my own family, whom I love dearly despite the fact! 😆
