I agree with most of the points you mentioned. I actually deleted Desi Boyz after seeing the first scene with Deepika, her dialogue delivery was horrible and she has improved a lot.

But calling Aish being leaugues ahead is exaggeration TO ME. If that was the case in reality, she would have been compared with Vidya, Rani, Shabana etc.

Yes, she was atrocious in Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya, Albela and some of those films she did. Because the story was weak and the direction was poor.

Ash is a complete director's actress. You can mould her the way you want. Under the right hands, her performances are top notch, yes up to the level of Vidya, Rani for sure. Just watch Kandukondain and you'll see how she was just as amazing as Tabu in it. But under weak direction/weak story, she can be average or below average or even outright bad.

When I said leagues ahead, I meant Deepika is certainly not the level of actress that is being portrayed on this thread. She could be a 5/10, Ash could be a 7/10 and Vidya could be an 8.5/10.

But I agree with you, she would look unconvincing as a plain jane and I don't think anybody would cast her if that is the description of the character. Even if she played a village belle, she was always a beautiful village bella, etc.

I don't think I would have liked it if Deepika played Lolita either. I can't tell you how many times i have watched Bride and Prejudices. I am glad she replaced Kat in YJHD.

Deepika was amazing in Tamasha and absolutely lovely in YJHD. I know I said they both are fit for different kind of roles, But now that think of it Aishwarya was actually pretty darn charming and very likeable as Lalita. And stunning in Kandukondain as well. Maybe Ash should have done more rom coms. Ash is actually more of the director's actor than a genre actor.

You needed somewhat of a dignified attitude to play Lolita. Which Deepika has not done in Tamasha or YJHD. My family friends always go "Good for you. Love her character." After Aish states, "I think you should go find someone simple and traditional to teach you how to dance like the natives" to Darcy.

Well TM is lil biased towards DP so you can ignore that part :)

Comparison hurts, idk why do we do that instead we can praise Aish in Raincoat, DP in PIKU, Kareena in JWM, Kangana in Queen, Priyanka in BM zillions of time rather bashing them for Dhoom, BM, MPKDH, revolver rani, barsaat etc.

Nobody rate her highly outside this forum. She can't act. She is lucky that she has a beautiful face, otherwise she would be out of bollywood decades ago.

Her performance in Raincoat is better than any performance by either Deepika, Kareena or Madhuri in their careers.

And she is not considered a good actress here, forget being rated highly.

Aishwarya's overpowring beauty sometimes takes away her performance. Her strong screen presence even sidelined SRK & Madhuri in Devdas.

Aishwarya is first an exceptional beauty then a dancer and then an actress. She is a good actress but not great actress like Sridevi, Kajol or Tabu.

Aishwarya is definately better actress than Kareena, Deepika. Aishwarya's limitation is she is poor in comic roles. Her only good slightly comic role was Josh. She was good in it.

She mainly excelled in periodic & traditional Indian roles like HDDCS, Taal, Kandukondain, Humara Dil...., Devdas, Chokher Bali, Raincoat, Guru & Jodhaa Akbar.

Her performance in Guzaarish was par excellence where her role was vintage Christian European style.

Aishwarya if given a good director and good script she is good actress. Esp. in traditional emotional roles she excelled.
