Forget Anniepee. She already did a few movies so she can survive. The one that is really going to lose from this KJo controversy is Shanaya Kapoor. She has been sitting at home for 2 years dreaming of a debut but nobody offers her any movie apparently. Maybe Maheep would have guilted Karan into finally giving her one but I don't see it now. There's no chance he can launch another star kid any time soon.

MAMI is supposed to be about films from all over the world. The past few years KJo has used it as a means to prop up and promote Alia or his other favorites. Even if we take his favorites angle out of it, him having RK or Alia or Bebo on the panels implies that the Hindi film industry is about them. It does a huge disservice to all the other great artists who contribute to Hindi cinema. MAMI is supposed to be an International festival. Imagine letting the world cinema believe that Kareena or Alia are the great contributors to Hindi films so much so that one of them has to be present on a panel regularly.

Deepika is the head of MAMI. What is she doing in her role? She's also just supporting the current nepo-structure. Maybe it's done to help her husband.

He was always a topic of gossip. I'm sure he was mocked for his weight and sexuality all his life. When he got power, he started doing the same to others. Bullies learn the behavior usually from how they were treated themselves.

Fair point. She should do more or should have done more to make MAMI about movies and not Alia and her in laws. I’m not sure if this is really about her husband or more the fact that she didn’t want to rock the KJo boat too much. One reason he’s been able to get away with his crap for so long is because of the power he holds. He may not be a good filmmaker but he’s definitely been a good networker and one who monopolized the industry for the few powerful ones.

I'm sure he was. His dad was a flop producer and nobody took him seriously. There is always a pecking order and Karan's family was not at the top. To make matters worse, Karan had an odd personality for a boy. He was very feminine and didn't really have friends. He calls people like Kajol and Twinkle his friends but from what I've seen, they treat him poorly as if they are so much above him. The "art" type directors like Anurag Kashyap and Vidhu Vinod Chopra openly used to trash him. In the earlier years, I think even SLB talked trash about him. So did Aamir Khan.

Now he takes full advantage of his power and makes sure everyone knows he has it.

Another reason for everyone’s “whatever” reactions is the headline of this article. Assuming it’s true, KJo is basically quitting a responsibility because no one was nice to him. It’s petty and juvenile. When his official statement comes out I hope he claims being busy or something along those lines as his official reason.

Knowing what a drama queen he is, it's highly possible he hasn't quit at all. This might be his attempt at getting people to speak up for him.

Btw, a lot of people are trying to help Karan subtly. Sonakshi, Sonam, Soni Razdan and the Bhatts, Neha Kakkar, Deepika, Anupama Chopra.. but I guess these are not the type of people he wants help from.
