Manic episodes may include symptoms such as high energy, reduced need for sleep, and loss of touch with reality. Depressive episodes may include symptoms such as low energy, low motivation, and loss of interest in daily activities. Mood episodes last days to months at a time and may also be associated with suicidal thoughts.

It’s a type of depression mixed with very erratic behavior. One poor guy was shaving his head, sleeping with his GFs mom or tryin to buy a term paper
There is medicine for it 👍🏼

U mean his actors don't co relate.
It has two illnesses which are on opposite spectrum as far as symptoms go, treatment of bipolar depression is different than only depression. It is an episodic illness.
Bipolar is alternating manic and depressive phases during the course of illness.
Mania is a state where the person sleeps very little but feels energetic and says he can do the work of n number of people all alone, he doesn't need rest etc, has a very disinhibited behaviour, can get promiscuous, there is increased appetite, may suddenly start singing or dancing.. can get aggressive and is very energetic. A little different from schizophrenia that they won't have hallucinations. But delusion of being the greatest person (grandiosity) will be there.
I tried writing in simple language. This is how manic phase looks like.
Depressive phase is completely opposite and often people don't bring the patient to us because he is not causing any harm to them. Manic phase is basically disturbing for the patient's relatives so they bring .
Sushant wasn't bipolar.

He doesn’t think about his actions. An then there’s DID. The whole split personality where you have black outs and another personality takes control
A member posted this on another thread and it made a lot of sense.
Thank you for sharing such beautiful posts.
Personally, I thought Sushant was suffering from bipolar disorder.
I think he was suffering for years with it but was diagnosed late or even misdiagnosed as depression.
He showed most of the signs: insomnia, depression followed by euphoric episodes followed by depression followed by irritability.
During his euphoric/ dysphoria phase, he was at his best with creativity and acting and doing his projects on astro physics.
And so he may have felt that he did not need medication.
Most bipolar patients I have come across come to the doctor only when they need help with the depressive phase.
But their denial to start taking medication could be their own coping mechanism of the illness, or cautious of the stigma of being labelled mentally ill or fear of what the medication might actually do to them.
While it is true that Bollywood biggies did not reach out to him, it is also true that he shut himself off completely from other people.
He became increasingly reclusive. He changed his phone number 50 times.
He had big ideas of doing many big things....but couldn't finish any of them.
He lost his mother at 16, when he was still a child-man. He was deeply connected to her and her death was a huge shock.
I think his illness might have started from there.
He tried to cope with the death by doing different things and keep himself busy.
Like he was constantly in search of something....or trying to run after something to fill that void in himself.
He himself said once that he loved acting because it allowed him "to escape from himself."
So he went to engineering college and scored really well....only to drop out months before his graduation.
Then he moved to the television industry and did really well there....only to drop out of projects and join the movies.
Then he joined the movies and did really well there....but he could not stay committed with the contract he was signed to.
His mind was wavering. constantly.
His personal relationships were the same. He seemed committed enough only to back away just before marriage.
During the lockdown, with no work and with a relationship fight....he plummeted further.
In the last 10 days before his death, his gym trainer's mother passed away....it brought back memories of his dead mother and that was his final poem on his instagram account. A few days later, he stopped his medication. He fought with his girlfriend and convinced her to move away for a while...so he was alone. A few days later, his ex-manager committed suicide. A few days later, he cleared his payments for his servant staff. And a few days later in the morning, he committed suicide.
It seemed the natural step to take. He also left without wanting to drown his girlfriend into it and without creating debt for anyone to pay off.
In retrospect....yes, the blind items written about him may have some truth in them....temper tantrums/ irritability may have happened when his manic episodes were pushed further.
But most may have been false and that might have been the reason for him keeping his guard up all the time.
He kept walls around his fragile mind.
He said he didn't care what people said, but he did. He said the belittled recognition did not hurt, but it did.
The blind items may have created paranoia in his mind too that people were constantly watching him/ targetting him/ plotting against him.
This would have further fuelled his bipolar anxiety/ depression phase.
Suicide can happen in the manic phase of bipolar....it is a type of aggression towards oneself.
It is further triggered by depression when one loses all hope in life itself.
Overall, the outside world of our mind is infinite and the inside world of our mind is infinite.
Finding the peace between these two worlds is what keeps one sane.
I hope and pray that Sushant has finally found his peace.
