That's the point though. It's all about perception stemming from exaggerated visibility and PR. You and I know these things because of this forum but how many people who casually follow Bollywood are aware of this? That's why we need other people who actually treat the film industry as a industry of opportunity for all to speak up and say ' we exist too'. It's not only the insiders that have given Karan this power, it's us too.

@bold

I never knew about this side of BW actors.. 😳

I know that almost all celebs have PR but visibility is reqd? 😲Audience knows the actor if he/she have acted in tv or in few movies.. so are they not there already in public eye?

I think Ronnie is more concerned with simply doing good work rather than any validation and PR from BW folks. BW today is merely a small shadow of what it used to be. The nonexistent talent, the nepotism, elitism, cronyism .... meh.

KJo may be some star maker or whatever, all powerful, but he has killed this industry and sucked it dry.

He is investing in sports nowadays. Has Franchise in Kabaddi and Table Tennis, His football bid was rejected because mumbai already have a team. Wont be surprised if he bid for an IPL team in association with someone when next time cities allotment happens.

Ronnie deserves a lot more credit than he gets. He is a true businessman who invests in various types of businesses. I know he probably doesn’t do more than invest in a good product, but I remember buying a pair of Lenskart glasses because I read Ronnie invested/backed up Lenskart and so far haven’t had any issues with the quality of the product.

RSVP has had Uri (massive success) and Love Per Square Foot (one of the first OTT movies) were both produced by him and are good films in their respective genres. Sky is Pink and Bhangra Paa Le weren’t commercially successful but Sky is Pink was a good film overall as well. Even KJo’s indie claim-to-fame, The Lunchbox, was actually produced by Ronnie/UTV and others, and KJo was roped in for more visibility/ Dharma tag.

Ronnie has played such a crucial part in taking a not so commercialized script and letting it get a good release/market. He has given some wonderful movies and supporting new talent. Earlier through UTV and RSVP now. He is the kind of guy who would probably seem the most approachable with anybody with a good script in hand.

Bollywood has become a pure PR game, with more marketing gimmicks and focus than good content. There are good movies, with brilliant content, its just that they don't get the visibility or promotion, they deserve.

Gully Boy for the Oscars 😳 -- I am sure we have so many many more better quality content movies than this. It wasn't the worst, but not the best in the year also. With the huge invasion of social media in our lives, relevance and publicity have reached peak prominence, it seems.

Karan Johar is a brilliant marketing guy, and knows how to monetize any movie - how to portray the characters, in both reel and real life... some many like Ronnie may feel too below their level to resort to such tactics.

Well he gave URI and MARD KO DARD NAHI HOTA. Both were awesome films in my book. Even his bad films have some redeeming qualities. He is trying to change Indian cinema yet stay commercial. Hard thing to do with so many mafias around.
