Bollywood actress Mahima Chaudhry won millions of hearts with her Bollywood debut in Subhash Ghai’s Pardes in 1997, opposite Shah Rukh Khan. Unfortunately, the stardom didn’t last for long and she suddenly disappeared from the movies.

In a recent interview, Mahima reveals that she had met with a deadly accident in 1999 that caused damage to her face and thus she had to go into hiding. Tracing back to 1999, Majima was working with Ajay Devgn and Kajol in their film Dil Kya Kare, when she met with a horrible accident in Bengaluru. A truck bashed into her car and her face was filled with pieces of glass.

“I thought I was dying, and at that point, no one even helped me get to the hospital. It is only after reaching the hospital, much later, when my mother came, Ajay came and they went to discuss. I got up and saw my face in the mirror and saw the horror. When they did the surgery on me, they took out 67 glass pieces.”

Further, Mahima revealed that she took a long time to recover from the deadly accident and had to let go of many movies as she had to stay indoors at all times and even avoid sunlight. “There were a lot of movies that I had lined up for myself during that time, and I had to let it go. I didn’t want people to know because at that time, people were not that supportive. If at that time, I had discussed it and said that I had cut myself like this, they would have said... ‘oh, iska toh chehra kharab ho gaya (her face is ruined), let’s sign someone else,” she said.

Talking about her absence from the movies, Mahima said: “Yes, it did look like where did she go? I was hiding. I braved it out and it is only because of my family.”

On the personal front, Mahima got married to Bobby Mukherji in 2006 and got divorced in 2013, and is currently single-parenting her daughter Aryana.

That was the 2nd disappearing act. The accident happened in 1999.

Whoa, I had no idea about this. Poor woman must have been so traumatized by this.

I did some quick googling and learnt that her brother and sister in law died in a car crash too. Unfortunate.

But if her accident happened in 1999, how did she manage to work non-stop? She had many releases in 1999, 2000 and the years following that. Must have been a quick recovery.

I like to watch Pardes only for Mahima! She looked like a dream while giving the girl-next-door vibes! She was mesmerizing in the film with her innocent looks and also acted very well in the first movie itself! It’s unfortunate that she couldn’t make it big despite having looks and talents!

No one can tell her face got cut that badly.

Bollywood must b eager to find out who did the surgery. Not trying to mock or be insensitive here but m pretty sure Btown peepz will wanna know, so that they can go to the same person.
