Excerpts from a book on Nawaz about his divorce from 1st wife Sheeba

So what now? With no contact from Anjali for more than a year, what did Nawaz decide?
“Ammi picked a lovely girl called Sheeba who hailed from Haldwani, which is near Nainital. I got married a few months before the shoot of Patang. Ahead of Haldwani, lie Bijnor, Najibabad, etc.; most of Sheeba's family had settled in Haldwani and around it. Anjali had disappeared for almost a year; there had been no word from her at all.”

“I got married and went to shoot Patang in Ahmedabad, tagging Sheeba along. We lived together for nearly two months. The crew of Patang knows her well. Then she went home and I went on to shoot my next film. Sheeba was a wonderful girl with a heart of gold but her brother was very intrusive. He interfered in our marriage constantly.”
“Before I had set off for the court, Ammi too had advised me on similar lines. 'If you feel there is even a teeny bit, even a drop of love left between the two of you, suleh kar lena (go for a compromise). Tell the judge then that you have made a compromise and you two want to live together.' Her voice rang in my ears, her advice swirled in my head in a loop. I tried to make eye contact with the woman who was still my wife, but might not be within a matter of minutes. Her eyes were often lowered or gazing elsewhere. Perhaps it was a mismatch of moments. I tried again and again and again, my desperate, apologetic eyes seeking hers, but I just could not get her to look at me. (I got plenty of eye contact from her brother though.)”

“Our hearing began. the judge called Sheeba and asked her, 'What do you want?' She replied, as if with a sense of urgency, 'I want a divorce. These guys have tortured us.' My heart sank on the spot. My lawyer, to whom I had communicated ammi's wishes as my own which indeed they were, whispered in my ears what I already knew, 'They have asked for divorce. There is nothing we can do now. I'm sorry, Nawaz."
He always appeared like a creep to me. The things that the other actress said he did to her, like pretend to be some poor innocent soul and all that. He plays everyone.
I thought of him initially as a poor struggling actor trying to make his mark. Until I came to know of his book, wherein he had casually mentioned making his love scenes with co-actors for real...and how it was easy to convince 2-3 actresses to do so or something of that sort, who would be wanting to have a long-term relationship with him, while he was only interested in sex or something along those lines. He actually named names too, in his book. Don't remember all the exact details now, but I remember thinking what a creep!
Didn't know both his 1st and 2nd wife complained to police. The fact that all women in his family are suffering, including his brother's wife and mother who has an anxiety disorder doesn't say much about the way the men in the family treat women.
I sensed something off about this weirdo. No wonder I never liked him. Strange how my intuition is so strong.
Is it just me who thinks nawaz kind of looks like irrfan khan ?
Nawazuddin’s Family Tortured Me Mentally and Physically, His Brother Hit Me’: Nawazuddin’s Wife Aaliya Makes Shocking Allegations Amid Divorce Row

Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s marriage with Aaliya has hit rock bottom and his wife has filed for a divorce. She sent a legal notice to the actor demanding a divorce and maintenance money. While the actor has denied reacting to this, his wife has gone all out and made some shocking allegations against him and his family.
Aaliya has reverted to her original Hindu name, Anjali, as she does not want to be identified by Nawazuddin’s name anymore. She says that the problems in her marriage weren’t something new as she speaks to Bollywoodlife:
“Problems (in her marriage) had begun from long before, from the time I got married (to Nawaz), but I wasn't bringing them forward. I was trying to solve these issues, waiting for them to get better, so I finally had to take this decision. There are many reasons why I finally took this decision."
Speaking of the many reasons behind her decision to get separated, Aaliya says that her self respect was destroyed and she felt alone. “The way you are your raised in the house you come from, how your mother and brother take care of you, and then you are suddenly forced to change your religion...anyway, that was necessary to get married, so I did it for him when he had asked me to. But then your life changes so badly, that you realise that you were nothing in his life, you never were anything. You were just living alone with his children for ten years, you had to do everything alone. So, I decided to end it. After all, when I'm doing everything alone, then why not actually stay alone” she shared.

When asked if Nawazuddin had ever tortured her physically, she revealed that while he did not raise his hand on her, the shouting and arguments had become unbearable. She also accused his family of mental and physical torture and revealed that his brother had even hit her.
"He (Nawaz) had never raised his hands on me, but the shouting and arguments had become unbearable. You could say though that only that was left. Yes, but his family has mentally and physically tortured me a lot. His brother had even hit me. His mother and brothers and sisters-in-law used to stay with us only in Mumbai. So, I've been bearing a lot for too many years.”

Aaliya also asserts that this has been a pattern in the Siddiqui family and claims that the actor’s first wife left him for a similar reason. “There are already seven cases registered by the wives of their house against them, and four divorces have taken place. This is the fifth one. It's a pattern in his family. You leave a lot to avoid embarrassment before others, but how much can you take in love. My sister is supporting me as my father and mother are no more, and my brother had passed away last December” she broke open.
Aaliya has demanded sole custody for their two kids: Shora and Yaani Siddiqui as she says that Nawazuddin did not have time for his kids and has not met them for the last 3-4 months. “However big an actor you've become, what's the point if you're not a good person? What's the point if you can't respect your wife and kids? Our kids don't even remember when their father last visited them. It's been 3-4 months since he's met his kids, but he doesn't care, so even the kids have become used to it and don't ask about him” she said.

Adding to the shocking list of allegations, Aaliya reveals that she was aware of her husband’s affairs and yet supported him. However, Nawaz used to disrespect her, she claims.
"Nawaz would keep telling me that I don't know anything, I don't know how to speak, which is why he couldn't take me in front of others. He wanted me to not speak in front of others as he didn't feel I could. I didn't want to always speak, but how can you disrespect your wife like this” she shares.
Aaliya concludes by saying: “I was even admitted for panic attacks due to this, some time ago. I want to remove this chapter from my life as a bad dream."

This separation has turned ugly with a barrage of allegations against the actor, and until Nawazuddin breaks his silence, we will have to wait to see how things unfold...
