Who do you feel has the potential but lacks the opportunities to showcase their talent?

For me:

Males:

Aditya Roy Kapur( he's a decent actor)

Sid Malhotra ( he's completely a director's actor, can shine in certain projects)

Tahir Raj Bhasin( he's an exceptionally good actor, shoud be getting projects left, right and centre)

Sushant Singh Rajput( should be working with A-list directors)

Vikrant Massey( should be getting projects, he's really talented)

Females:

Ileana D' Cruz( she's a combination of beauty and talent)

Yami Gautam( she's a fab actress, just needs the right projects and some female-centric roles)

Parineeti ( she's the best actress among her contemporaries)

Sanya Malhotra( she was excellent in Photograph, just needs to sign some good projects)

Mrunal Thakur( she was soooooooooo good in Love Sonia, needs to showcase her commercial abilities)

actresses- If I’m observing new generation, i see a huge discrepancy between priveleged and non priveleged. I see a lot of good actresses capable of doing good work and being a part of hits not given those chances. sanya malhotra, banita sandhu, where are these girls in mainstream films? I don’t see how a parineeti or rhadika madan should struggle to get good films I really don’t. They are capable but the producers/Audience will assume they can’t bring in numbers based on content that they have not been given the chance to be a part of in the first place. They give those chances to Jhanvi ananya who have not shown an ounce of acting talent, but assume they will attract a crowd. Which they only do because they always end up getting better content which eventually becomes a conformation bias. After all this, the audience keeps going on how average BW it is. And they are right it is.

Actors It’s the same. Ayushmann tahir all talented, you won’t find them getting opportunities when they are/were completely capable.

Ayushmann needed only 2 hits/2 correct opportunities to being one of the most loved actors of the country. That Alone Says a lot.

Industry is corrupt as ever.

THIS❤️

That also sums up the success of Alia Bhatt, who is here only bcoz she got projects on a platter. If she was an outsider, I think she would have struggled to get work after SOTY. She was so average in it!

It most certainly does. but success can’t be talked back to at the end of the day no matter how it is attained.

For actresses there are so many I want to see get better movies Radhika Madan, Ileana, Mrunal Thakur, Tilotama Shome, Banita Sandhu, Sanya Malhotra, Disha Patani, Parineeti Chopra.

For actors Vikrant Massey pleeease. Give him to me. Avinash Tiwary stole my heart in Laila Majnu and never gave it back.

For me

Among men - Tahir Raj and sushant singh rajput, can go to different level as they have acting talent and can shine.

Sid malhotra and ARK- one note actors- cannot reach further level no matter how many films they act.

Vikrant massey- although he acts well and has talent, I dont see him having the screen presence that makes him a star. He suits well to Indie films rather than commercial movies.

Among female- All of them can act well if given good scripts.

I would say its already late for Ileana and Yami gautam to reach further level, as they had chances and couldnt capitalize (Ileana preferred mass movies over performance, that clearly dented without reverting back. One more Barfi level performance after barfi would have changed her career, with phata poster nikla hero did nothing, while main tera hero gave her glam doll name. Happy ending did end her flourishing career. Comeback films like rustom or raid didnt help her much.

Yami had cameo roles in big ticket films with no follow up hits, like Badlapur and Kaabil. Usually if one get big ticket films, no matter tthe role is, if it followed by good hit in smaller film gives one career push, which happened with tapsee with Judwaa and pink)

Sanya Malhotra and Mrunal Takur still has chances and can go further if get roles under good directors.

Parineeti chopra- i dont know what to say, she no matter gives any performance, currently on par at sonakshi level (who depends on big ticket hero films). Golmaal did nothing for her career, so did Kesari. I am not sure if her script reading sense is good. I dont see her going to another level anytime in future for sure, unless she gives three back to back hits (like Deepika in 2013).

Yes Tahir for sure 👌

Sanya Malhotra - firecracker! I loved her in Photograph 🤩

Vikrant Massey - he has so much of talent, I hope that Chhapaak has given him enough exposure for producers/casting directors to see more of him! A Death in the Gunj was amazing and so was he in it.

Rasika Dugal - She's brilliant and has suuuch a luminous presence 🤩

Maanvi Gagroo - You'll know what I'm saying if you've watched SMZS, Made in Heaven, Tu Hai Mera Sunday

Barun Sobti - Watch Asur/Tu Hai Mera Sunday. I'm in love with his character and the way he portrayed him in THMS ❤ He's charming and so so so underrated. His talent deserves to be seen more

Radhika Madan - Again, patakha! 🙃 She was lovely in Angrezi Medium too.

Avinash Tiwary - The best Majnu I have seen onscreen tbh <3 Liked him in Ghost Stories too.

Rhea Chakraborty - I don't personally find her as refined as the above ones but she has some sort of appeal and she could possibly have a place in mainstream Bollywood if she does the right films

Parineeti’s line up is good, good is an understatement, it is way better than her previous films like namaste England. Doing a saina Biopic and girl on the train are the films she should have been doing all long. I don’t see sonakshi doing films like that. So to me they are not on the same level in terms of potential. If parineeti’s films flop, then yes she won’t go anywhere because you need to bring in numbers which sonakshi failed to do in good films like lootera and Akira. In all, she has the ability to make an impact as long as films are coming her way.

So I would say she is a step ahead of sanya malhotra who I think deserves the world. But saying she could have a brighter future than actresses That are actually getting right films now makes less sense to me. Sanya is still not recognized among producers as an option to go to. Producers go to the likes of kriti, parineeti before sanya, rhadika, etc

There is a hierarchy in Bollywood. Alia/deepika right now then the rest follow

I personally don’t think sonakshi falls into a clear category because she lost out on her potential. And that’s the worst case for an actress. Parineeti is not there yet, but she is slowly reaching there. The minute investment in solo films stops for an actress, that’s questionable esp for someone like sonakshi since she has been a popular personality in the past. Both kriti and parineeti are given opportunities to lead films with atleast some promise in content.

Sorry this long, but that’s how I see it
