Lets re-cast Padmavaat

I think Deepika was a miscast in the film. Aishwarya was the original choice. I still remember many years ago in Filmfare magazine when asked about his equation with Aishwarya SLB said he wants to tell Padmavaati story and this would be his Taj Mahal to Aishwarya someday. I was excited to read the hint he gave about his future project but after many years SLB chose Deepika.

Deepika looked worse as Padmavaat. What do you think?

Ideal casting would have been the following:

Padmaavati ..... Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (Only Choice).

Allauddin Khilji ..... Shah Rukh Khan

Rawal Ratan Singh ..... Ajay Devgan

Ash is the only padamavaat

If Khilji liked her because of her beauty(which doubt because he had never seen her ever) the beauty should be a real earth shattering beauty like Ash

Deepika looked worst than Khiljis wife Aditi Rao in terms of beauty.

Khilji - Ranveer was good but OTT many times, SRK would be good too. What about having Ajay Devgan as the Khilji he would be good too

Ratan Singh: Hrithik Roshan should be Ratan Singh actually and given more scenes than Ratan Singh got in movie

That would be my cast

If i have to retain one cast member thats Ranveer Singh as Khilji he was OTT but he was better

Deepika and Shahid never suited their roles at all

Shahid never looked like a warrior forget rajputh warrior at all

Thats why i want Hrithik as Ratan Singh for war scenes

He was brillant in Jodha Akbar

Aish is too old to play Padmini though.

My choices, if we rebooted

Malvika Sharma as Padmavat.

Ranveer as Khilji, even though he was OTT, he was perfect for what SLB envisiones as Khilji. Same with Mir Kafur being played by Jim. If they wanted to redo the character in another manner, we can choose another actor, but as SLB's Khilji Ranveer was perfect.

Vicky Kaushal should have played Ratan Singh. Shahid looked lost to be honest.

I think the casting for Padmavat was perfect. Shahid and Deepika were both awesome, IMO. Even I liked their chemistry.

Ranveer was the best part about Padmavat, he was OTT but it what the role demanded. I can't think of anyone else playing Khilji the way he did....menacing, cruel, blunt.

How about we not make it at all. It was a lousy film that no cast could save. Probably a change in director would.

• Aishwarya Rai (in her prime) would be my one and only choice for Padmavathi. She is the only actress who has the beauty to make the whole plot justified.
• Hrithik Roshan as Ratan Singh. He looks like royalty and historical outfits suit him to the Tee.
• I would have liked to see SRK as Khiji during his Asoka looking days. Otherwise Ranveer did great in this role.
  
  

Shahid Kapoor was a joke as Ratan Singh. Ajay Devgan would have suited to T.

Slb is soo overrated. And those outfits and look he gave to deepika are a joke. Nothing is wrong with deepika. If given right makeup and costume she would look great. But that champu slb has to ruin every thing history with same type of notsocolourful unroyal costumes and dark setup which looked like harry potter and the deathly hallows.

I think Ranveer was top notch as Khilji. That role is made for him.

Hrithik would have been a great Rawal Ratan Singh. Or Vicky Kaushal like someone mentioned in the thread!

About Padmavati, I don't think anyone in Bollywood suits the character tbh. Aishwarya and Deepika are both beautiful but actingwise Deepika kind of underplayed it and Aishwarya would have overplayed it. I like Ash but even in Jodhaa Akbar she went slightly overboard in some scenes imho. And if I had to choose between Deepu and Ash for Padmini, I'd choose Deepu 💁‍♀️
