Sushant Mehta from india today calls Alia overhyped

Here is his tweet after responsing to a tweet as to why alia was not on a best actor poll which included deepika, kangana, priyanka, and kareena.

"She's good but very overhyped. Done what? like 10-12 films?! Her best performance - highway, raazi, gully boy? Decent, not great. She is talented but let her do at least 10 more films, then we'll see."

Well I agree with him

And given that this is her "peak"...and still doubts that she should be on a list. says a lot.

he isnt the most credible person obvi, but his opinion was something I personally agree with.

TBH, Alia is talented but her 'stardom' will always be tainted with the fact that she was handed roles that were literally written to suit her. She never had a 'struggle' period. Even privileged nepo kids had a struggle or low phase. She acts the same way in nearly all her films. The only film that I think she was really good in was Udta Punjab. The rest were more or less very similar characters, or at least she acted the same in most of them (with accent change)

I agree that she is over-hyped.....but i dont agree that she is a decent actor....... cause when i see her the only thing i notice is her flaring nostrils and that ruins it for me.....

she wasn't upto it, even in that small Vicco ad where half of the times she didn't know what expression to give.....only half of the time she was point on, and that was when she was eating.....

She is 100% better actress than overhyped, PR queen DP... Rest all this kjo blah is jealousy speaking... Bahut saare nepo aaye Gaye n she is sticking bciz ppl love her.. ❤️

so you are saying this guy is jealous? This wasn’t about her being loved, it was about her being overhyped as an actress. They are different

Agree with you 100 %. There's an apprentice period between your debut and peak while you learn your craft. That's when you act in crap films,flowerpot roles, cameos and whatnot- all the while observing and learning skills from those around you. And then you slowly start to peak. And that's when you get those really meaty characters.That's the career graph of all actresses Kareena,Deepika, Priyanka,Sridevi....etc. Alia being the sole exception.

Why? Hrithik had also done less than 12 films but they were giving him best actor awards for something like Dhoom 2. He won best actor for his first film even though it wasn't some exceptional acting performance. Different standards for men and women eh?

Alia is a better actress than Kareena, so why should we wait till she does 10-20 more films to decide that? lol
