I get what you're saying, but realism need not always be equated with sad. I mean, Panga was a happy, chirpy, sunshiny film but look at its fate.

again its about the story and hows its marketed and also female centric films sadly dont work as much..

What they can do is - they can put massy dialogues and sequences and whistle blowing moments , that will surely make the film a hit. Mary Kom was a good hit because it was marketed well and it was about a real person and it had such sequences which grabbed our interest

Low budget as in.. there's no big screen spectacle in these movies. They basically look like TV shows. Thappad is an interesting movie when you think more about it but on the face of it, it really just seems like a boring TV serial - the same old kitchen politics and daily family dramas.

People will only pay for fun. If a movie gives them a lot of action, beats up villains, or makes them laugh and enjoy their evening, it's worth it.

I watched Sky is Pink at home and it was dull as dishwater. Neverending illness for the full movie. I felt exhausted and bored.

No. Similarly I don't feel appalled when somebody purchases a different brand of biscuits than my fav ones. Tastes and preferences differ, we don't need to question everything that doesn't align with our own preferences. As long as my fav brand of biscuits is available in the market I m fine.

my favourite movies last year were Mission Mangal, Chichhore, Badla, Mardaani 2,Gully Boy and Article 15. All were hits, so I feel vindicated😆

But this year, something else is happening!

No, not at all.

You either make a great movie or interesting/gripping/entertaining movie. But you can't make a mediocre boring movie, whose only USP is a message or idea. The only people directly impacted with associate with that message. You need a good combination of message and entertainment.

For different types of movies, it's target audience and volume of that audience is different. Very rarely , movies like Panga will be blockbusters. Trick is to reduce budget of such movies without harming the movies.

Depends on your definition of intelligence....For some intelligence means being able to clearly differentiate between a movie and the reality.....

Not all masala movies or big budget movies do well. It all depends on different factors like star value, action scenes (2 reasons why Bhaggi worked), story, music and production etc.

Like KS was basically a typical love story but what made it different was the music, actors and the way the story was told. Plus the character was strong.

A low budget movie can do very well if it connects. Connection is the key thing.

Movies like Baaghi 3 are BADAY PARDAY KI FILMAIN, they give u another feel at big screen (not at home)

films like PANGA and TSIP are not meant for big screen..better to be watched at home on small screen

we need to understand the difference between cinematic-movies made for big screen and festivals films

Nobody can predict the ways of fate, Box office and Stock market .If there was any justice Rohit Shetty, Prabhudeva and what's-his-name(the director of Baaghi) should be sitting at home swatting flies while talented directors like Shimit Amin (Chakde India,Rocket Singh),Pradeep Sarkar (Parineeta,Mardaani) and Atul Sabarwhal should be making movie after movie.
