To be totally honest, 4.7 Crores opening is not at all bad for the genre & the clash taken in consideration. If it was not Deepika, a popular actress, playing the lead role, I doubt it would have even reached to a full crore. Maybe other popular actresses, like...maybe Alia or Kangna could have brought a crore or two more. But it definitely wouldn't have opened with 10+ crores numbers. Whoever believed / claimed it was to do so might have been too unaware of the real situation. A movie like this isn't for everyone. Majority of the moviegoers watch movie for fun, relaxation and entertainment. Chhapaak offers none of those. If you leave aside the delusion that Deepika (or any other popular actress) could have brought a 10+ crores opening or a 100+ crores lifetime, Chhapaak is doing pretty well.

I just wish Deepika hadn't meddled with politics & turn this into a political battle. The whole focus is on her now rather than the movie & its purpose. People are boycotting the movie, writing negative reviews without even watching because they hate Deepika. Laxmi & the other brave girls who contributed to this movie deserved better.

and when satellite rights etc start getting included..samaj lo pakka flop hai

you never hear such calculations for REAL SUCCESSFUL movies

if these things get into account..no movie on earth will ever flop

Every movie recovers their money from one or another way Satellite rights overseas market etc. but its a Hit or Flop could be considered only by Indian Market sell

Even KALANK makers recovered their money but its a FLOP

The minute someone mentions satellite rights is the exact moment the film is confirmed to be a flop!

Nope! That’s not how a hit or flop status is determined.

Doesn't matter if it's a hit or a flop but I agree with @cricketfan. She hijacked the promotions and changed it into political stuff.... Wish she had made it all about the victim and let them take the centre stage
