Why Ranbir, Ranveer, Varun, Shahid, Ayushmann and Kartik have no record breaking openings? Even 🐅 got it with the help of Hrithik.

Sanjay Dutt who was always a Flop actor according to some on this forum has 3 record breaking openings.

Because content has taken over. To open big film needs scale, good holiday release, wider release. Off late I don't think any new generation actors have got holiday releases(except varun) Also inn logonme woh baat nahi Jo Salman srk Aamir me hai.

So? There still has to be a record of the biggest opening ever so how does that matter?

It will affect the opening of the movie in general. So those crazy opening Rajesh khanna/Rajendra kumar or even khans in 90s - used to have may not happen in that huge numbers due to these factors.

You're not getting it. The movies that I mentioned had the record of "biggest opening day ever" when they released. The record of "biggest opening day ever" still exists but it's not the Millennial generation giving them. It's the Khans and Hrithik who still have the dominantion.

Ok. In that case it will happen with younger generation too. Khans domination is almost gone. BW cycle.

This is what I feel: Sanjay Dutt, whatever his personal life, is an amazing actor on screen. I never see Sanjay on screen, always the character. Same for Aamir, Sunny and mostly Ajay and Hrithik. Akshay has evolved so much from his Khiladi days. I can't think of any actor who could currently play the Bollywood version of Arunachalam Muruganantham with the emotions and grace that he did. Completely opposite to the 'Macho, one man army' man. Salman had a sincerity and vulnerability in his earlier films and star power in later.

Consistency is the key, I believe. Over several movies, these actors have built a reputation for themselves of being 'paisa-vasool'. They have fulfilled the audiences expectations consistently - some in action, some in comedy, others in romance. People look forward to their next performances based on their previous positive experiences.

I feel, Ranveer and Ayushmann may achieve the record breaking numbers in a couple of years. They need more experience and I hope Ayushmann gets more massy movies. Ranbir gives me a lazy impression - hardly does enough movies to make a connect and Tiger can make a niche audience in action only for now - I saw Student of the Year 2 and to put things mildly, I was really disappointed. Varun needs to tone down and emote more.

Over social media exposure disconnects me more from as an audience. Case in point being Alia Bhatt. The nepotism discussion certainly looms in my mind when I see Alia on screen initially. I believe, in the same way, portraying Ranbir Kapoor in a 'Rahul' or 'Prem' type of character now would be a risk.

Ticket prices being what they are, many people would want to go for 'safe' options, which would be the more experienced actors.
