Kaminey wasn't understandable and extremely entertaining for an average cinema goer, that the reason it is almost forgotten, flopping in television and barely being an average grosser in cinema.
Haider, same as Kaminey.
While Shahid may give another great performance with Maha Kaminey, but the success to establish himself as the next big star will not be garunteed by Vishal, unless he gets the commercial cinema and goes for it, which I am sure he won't.
Vishal movies are huge hit with cinephiles, but they have, never will attract the huge crowd.
No it was. Understandable and entertaining. Messy, chaotic? yes. But perfect for a thriller.
Haider is a near perfect movie.
And thats the point. The average cinegoer has changed their standards. Right now, Andhadhun is the standard for the average cinegoer and Kaminey fits the bill. So do so many other movies which have been seemingly forgotten. The audience has changed and their brains too.
Good Vishal movies give you credibility. Something that is working these days. There is no Shakespeare script that can fail in the hands of Vishal Bharadwaj. None! He's the master.
I didnt mention huge crowds and all. Those are for potboilers. Am talking good movies, hit movies that guarantee credibility and Kaminey and Haider would have gotten more footage and money in the era of credibility. A lot more appreciation than what they got when they released. Would they be the next Kabir Singh? Ofcourse not. We all know why đ

Andhadhun grossed only 72 crores, a Shahid starrer earning 72 crores will be a flop, given his movies always are on the higher end on the medium size budgets.
See I know and appreciate Vishal's genius, but I also know that he has zero ability when it comes to making a movie commercially profitable.
And no, not every Shahid movie should be Kabir Singh, but they shouldn't be a movie which barely become hits. And trust me, unlike Vishal makes the movie massy by styling it well, this movie will not a profitable venture. It maybe a great movie which every critics and cinephile will adore, but it will not give distributors what they want from Shahid post KS.
And no I am not saying every Shahid movie post KS, should be like KS, but they shouldn't be dark comedy which half of the audience doesn't get and the movie ends up being a flat box office grosser.

I don't agree, in today's climate Haider would have been straight flop due to its political nature, while Kaminey would have had same average tag.
Content driven movies also have to movies which general audience can understand and find entertaining.
I love Vishal Bradwaj and his movies, but if Shahid wants to capitalise on his Kabir Singh success and become the next big star overtaking now that the Khans are losing the steam , Akki and Ajay will eventually break down, he shouldn't work with Vishal. Vishal movies are for cinephiles, not general audience. Unless he adapts and makes a massy movie for Shahid.
Now let's see whether Shahid really signs another film with Vishal or not. I hope that he does...I can bet that Vishal's next movies can do far better, coz his movie contents have always been unique and praised by the critiques. And audience are inclined to different movies these days, rather than the same clichĂŠ rom-coms and actions. Vishal is one of the underrated directors, and he should get his due.
