Maha Kaminey: A sequel to 'Kaminey' in the works with Shahid Kapoor?

Image

Shahid Kapoor and Vishal Bharadwaj have delivered some good films together. Vishal directed Shahid for the first time in Kaminey and later in Haider, both the films were critical and commercial successes that earned Shahid praises from critics and audience members alike. Though their third collaboration, Rangoon, was rejected by the audience, critics called it a good attempt to capture the essence of World War II.

A sequel to Kaminey in works'

As Shahid is gearing up to start shooting for his next, rumours about him featuring in a sequel of Kaminey have surfaced on the internet. Shahid was also recently seen getting clicked by the paparazzi along with Vishal Bharadwaj. A while ago, details about the sequel had also surfaced, and it was speculated that Vishal Bharadwaj has registered the title of the film as Maha Kaminey. A source close to the director has reportedly revealed that Vishal does have a script in mind and furthermore wishes to go ahead in a franchisal manner. It was revealed that, not too long ago, the director applied for the title of Maha Kaminey with the Indian Circulation Photos Producers' Affiliation. Shahid will be reprising the roles of Charlie and Guddu in the sequel if the actor-director duo decides to go ahead with it. The film will reportedly only go on floors only after Shahid wraps up the shoot for Jersey.

He shouldn't work with flop directors.

The audience are more content driven these days. Had movies like Haider and Kaminey released in the recent times, then they would be super hits at least. Even Shahid Kapoor told so himself, precisely about Haider which I completely agree. We shouldn't forget that Vishal's movie Haider helped Shahid to get Filmfare for the best actor.

P.S. Haider and Kaminey are not flops, they were commercially successful in the box office.

I don't agree, in today's climate Haider would have been straight flop due to its political nature, while Kaminey would have had same average tag.

Content driven movies also have to movies which general audience can understand and find entertaining.

I love Vishal Bradwaj and his movies, but if Shahid wants to capitalise on his Kabir Singh success and become the next big star overtaking now that the Khans are losing the steam , Akki and Ajay will eventually break down, he shouldn't work with Vishal. Vishal movies are for cinephiles, not general audience. Unless he adapts and makes a massy movie for Shahid.

Kaminey is very understandable. Its infact extremely entertaining.

And Haider ko release bhi hone nahi dete 😆 Release hoti toh flop definitely nahi hoti. It has enough stream beyond politics too.

Kaminey wasn't understandable and extremely entertaining for an average cinema goer, that the reason it is almost forgotten, flopping in television and barely being an average grosser in cinema.

Haider, same as Kaminey.

While Shahid may give another great performance with Maha Kaminey, but the success to establish himself as the next big star will not be garunteed by Vishal, unless he gets the commercial cinema and goes for it, which I am sure he won't.

Vishal movies are huge hit with cinephiles, but they have, never will attract the huge crowd.
