Why didn't Jab Tak Hai Jaan flop?

People have trashed the last two romance movies SRK did & they flopped.

For some reason JTHJ wasn't a flop despite being as bad (if not worse). I find it hard to believe even that Yash Chopra made it. The ridiculous deal with God, Katrina giving her worst performance ever and having zero chemistry with SRK, two time amnesia, unlikable lead characters etc.

So why did it apparently have good enough WOM to be a hit, do people actually like it

I think its because of SRK..wasnt he the numero uno during those times..its like how most of sallu movies of this decade fared good even though the content is below average in majority of them.

Don2 and Ra1, both underperformed/flopped before JTHJ. He was not at the top. That is the reason Ajay, who himself had been giving disaster solo movies, dared to clash with the sinking Khan.

He wasn't at the top anymore since 2008

Low costs I guess. It made less money in India than underperformers like Ra1 and Don 2 but still got a hit tag in Film Information's annual ratings.

Critics weren't harsh as it was Yash Chopra's Last film.

CE worked for Shetty.

Billu se SRK ka underperforming movies ka journey shuru hua, after that only CE was a blockbuster and JTHJ a hit due to low budget. HNY distributors couldn't make much profit. And that Mahira wali movie was also an underperformer, his fans and his trade fans did uchhal kud ciz it won the clash.

That was like for a few months until Aamir beat him with Dhoom 3..and after that he kept declining while Aamir & Salman kept rising (both have multiple 300+ crore movies, SRK has none).

So SRK's time at the top which started in 1995 was pretty much finished in 2008
