EXCLUSIVE: Salman Khan and Aanand L Rai in talks for comedy movie for a double role?ByUpala KBR

There have been various speculations about Salman Khan’s next release on Eid 2020. His fans are getting impatient as they are waiting for him to announce as Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Inshallah is not happening. But apparently, Salman doesn’t have a fully ready script right now and has been in talks with many filmmakers last week, to finalise a project which he can announce on Eid. One of these makers is Zero director Aanand L Rai, who has approached him for a comic drama revolving around two characters who look identical to each other, leading to many funny incidents and misunderstandings. Salman has earlier starred in David Dhawan’s Judwaa and it was a blockbuster.

Says a trade source, “It’s an out-and-out comedy action entertainer and a con story based in Uttar Pradesh. Like Judwaa, Salman’s character (if he gives his nod to it) will have a double role. Imagine, two not one Salman Khans on Eid! Salman and Aanand have worked together in Zero when the super star worked with Shah Rukh Khan in the song ‘Issaqbaazi’. It was during this time that both Salman and the filmmaker figured out a certain comfort level and had discussed doing a film together. But Salman’s date diary in 2019 was full with Bharat, Dabangg 3 and Inshallah – till SLB’s decision was announced. Salman is keen to announce a movie on Eid 2020 as that is his day. His fans want it and it becomes a huge release at the box-office. When Aanand heard that Inshallah wasn’t happening with Salman, he approached him with a script which he will direct. While it’s a comedy, it will have its unique emotional twist, as Aanand’s films have. If they do decide to go ahead with this movie, Aanand and Salman will both produce it. Both are discussing the script, dates and other issues and everything is under wraps right now. Once Dabangg 3 gets complete, Salman can give his dates to any movie he wants. Aanand’s movie is the comedy that everyone has been speculating about.”
Explaining the reason behind the speculation of various projects last week, including Kick 2, Wanted 2 and No Entry 2, the source says, there was some truth behind it. “Salman was apparently shocked and caught unawares when Sanjay Leela Bhansali announced that Inshallah is not happening. Salman had wanted to just postpone the release but Bhansali, anticipating more creative issues, put it on hold (without Salman). While SLB is in talks with Shah Rukh Khan for the same, buzz is that when Bhansali made the announcement, Salman asked some of his friends, including filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala(with Kick 2), if their scripts were ready and they could release it on Eid 2020. While the script of Kick 2 is ready, Sajid has many films under production or releasing this this, so taking up direction and completing it by Eid next year, would be extremely difficult for him.”
When asked about it Aanand L Rai denied that he was in talks with Salman for the movie.
Will Salman play a judwaa again? It remains to be seen…
