Why is Bobby Deol considered a failure?

Bobby Deol is considered a failure and is put with the likes of Abhishek Bachchan. But he was not really a failure in 90s. He has few big hits with Barsaat, Soldier and Gupt and Badal in his filmography. These films were bigger hits in the 90s decade in comparison with Akshay and Ajay solo hits. Although Akshay and Ajay sustained in Bollywood, but Bobby wasn't able to do that despite being a star kid. I suppose he's considered a failure because he couldn't sustain? But he's definitely not a failed talentless star kid who only had flops in his career and never got a fanbase like people think.

Bobby was considered a hot property in the 90's he was a part of so many hit movies with great songs.

i guess the problem lies in his choices, he failed to walk with the time and got himself updated. you can't do action films all the time with weak scripts to salvage your career. then he tried with some romantic films which turned out to be average/below average. his run ended with humraaz...

I don't think he's a failure per se but he just kind of faded out of people's minds after Ajnabee. That was his last film that I actually remember being talked about.

Every actor, actress fades out at some point, even the big ones. I mean dev Anand and Rajesh khanna had pretty poor endings but in their prime they were A list. I guess Bobby had the potential and quite a few years left but fizzled out. That's what makes him a failure.

He is considered as a failure coz of his poor choices that he made later on his career. He was suitable for a certain genre only, which had been action flicks. But he tried to be versatile by choosing rom-com scripts but his wooden expressions couldn't help him in those genres and he failed big time.

John has been wise in this case, after trying various genres John realized that action is the only genre that can save his ass. Had Bobby done the same thing, then he could have been saved too.

Bobby started flopping after he cut his hair. His good luck went away with his hair 😔.

I didn’t know he was a failure until I joined here. Lolz frankly speaking I used to like watching his movies and still watch his songs sometimes. This forum thought me a lot in terms of how the BW world works.

SRK still has potential left. If he doesn't make a comeback will he become a failure?

Poor choices doesn't mean he didn't have a fanbase or wasn't bankable. Yes he was limited to one genre but the biggest superstars like Amitabh, Rajesh Khanna, Salman, SRK also have depended on one genre for their whole career to reach the top.
