Once upon a time there was a phase where Deepika was the best part in even poorly made films like Chennai Express, HNY, Tamasha but then her C grade level performances in triple X and Padmavat happened and ruined everything. The last time Deepika truly delivered something worth remembering was 4 years ago back in 2015.

I disagree; she has both popularity and acting talent (when directed well). She is not the best actress but she is definitely in the top 5 in BW within her generation. What she needs to step up is her character! She needs to take a break to build up her confidence, self-esteem and knowledge in order for her to make better choices, be more articulate and stop being so image conscious. That’s the reason why she is always embarrassing herself around manipulative people like Ranbir and Karan. I get second hand embarrassment every time she speaks on a public platform.

Oh and she needs to get rid of her pr team ASAP (and stylist, ideally). Their aggressive pr stunts worked when she was a nugu trying to get exposure, but this is not working now that she is an established name/brand. They really make her come across as desperate when she shouldn’t be and are not helping her choose endorsements and curate content strategically. It seems that Deepika has kept most of her original team members out of loyalty and that they still manage her the same way they did pre Cocktail.

I liked her in Om shanti Om and Chennai Express but her role in HNY was horrible, I mean the lead kept mocking her all the time and she kept running back to him every single time when he spoke english...that was pathetic

Deepika’s probably trying her best. Her, her team and her PR don’t play around. The Luv Ranjan movie is probably the best offer she’s getting, why else would she do it.

I don't know why Kareena is doing tacky Nach Baliye but her career is doing better than Deepika's in spite of being older and a mother. She has several movies coming up with decent roles in them.

DP shot herself in the foot by getting too arrogant and demanding too much money when she doesn't have the audience or the pull to ask for that much. That's why she gets almost no offers and keeps pretending to reject everything.

Kareena is the worst example you could have chosen. She is a lazy, PR led actress. She hasn’t had any memorable roles since JWM and I can’t remember any of her roles pre JWM. She has milked her Geet character and Kapoor surname shamelessly. Deepika has grown by leaps and bounds since Veronica and there is nothing wrong with rejecting offers if you can afford it; which is her case. Male actors do it constantly but are never called arrogant. Anushka and Bipasha have both taken long breaks too. Alia, Deepika, Katrina and Kangana are the most active actresses. So not sure why you would choose Kareena as an example when she is mostly splitting her time between reality shows, shoots and holidays.

Kareena is 10 times the actress Deepika is. They can't even be put in the same category. DP is the epitome of mediocre.

Kareena is almost 40 and a mother and has Lal Singh Chadha, Good News, Angrezi Medium and Takth coming up. Deepika can only wish. If Kareena is considered to be on holiday all the time with 4 upcoming films, what exactly is Deepika doing? All I see her doing is showing up at random events and doing professional photo shoots every single day at home just to put on instagram. And oh using her PR to connect herself to every film being made and claiming she rejected it before someone else is announced.

Kareena is the most ridiculous actress of her generation. Don’t let me start posting gifs of her overreacting “acting”. There are tonnes circulating.

Let’s just agree to disagree.

Deepika does have acting talent - I'm not disputing that. All I'm saying is she needs to learn Kangana's ability of getting under the skin of the charachter. She really needs to step up her game a bit, in order to stay relevant, and I'm saying that as a true-blue fan.

Comparing her with Kareeena is so ridiculous. Kareena has lost that drive years ago. She is a PR-driven, lazy actress who does movies only for the extra income - otherwise she is a glorified extra in most of her movies.
