Shahid Kapoor is an exception coz of his exceptional acting in movies like Kaminey, Haider, Udta Punjab. He has been phenomenal in all these movies and has won many awards for his double roles in Kaminey, won Filmfare award for best actor category for Haider and won Filmfare best actor award in the critics category for Udta Punjab. In the category of acting ability he can surpass many other actors and if given the right script, he can bring out the best of his role.

It's coz Shahid had to smoke 20 cigarettes a day for his Kabir Singh role. He is kind of a method actor. Not only that, after getting done with the shooting he had to shower for hours before going home to his kids.

Shahid is decent actor. That’s one reason according to me that he gets movies. Plus he does put in efforts.

How much far he came ? Being in the industry for 20yrs he had only Vivah as a blockbuster and recently padmavath and rest are average/flop..this is what he came so far then he is a flop star for sure..

He has flops mostly. I agree.

When I said he came far, I meant from background dancer to lead hero roles. That requires some dedication and hard work. So yea he did come up on his own. Being insider, he wasn’t given easy break or so.

well question is about why Shahid getting big ticket movies despite being a box office poison. If it was aabout how good of an actor he is, it would be a different thing.

Your first comment is — he is insider so he is getting movies. I said being insider didn’t help him. He worked his way up.

As for why he gets movies, affordable and known face plus decent actor.

Shahid has a very boring screen presence. Very lacklustre.

He has done good acting but inconsistent.

Solo films, could be because either they are low budget or he invests in them.

To be fair Salman Khan has been using the same set of expressions since 2009 and everyone seems okay with it? At least Shahid does different roles.
