Why doesn't BW buy songs from foreign/regional producers?

Given the lackluster state of BW music I was wondering why BW producers try buying rights for songs from foreign /regional music producers and probably rearrange them or something instead of blatantly using Punjabi songs. Do you think it would help improve the current state of things especially since lackluster music seems to be affecting BW movie business too?

if i had to guess its cuz few labels like Sony music, t-series have music monopoly over Punjabi and Hindi music. So they can produce for cheap in Punjabi and then ‘remix’ for Bollywood, and it don’t matter cuz labels own the music anyways. They pay Tanishk Baagchi few extra coins to add verses and or neha kakkar to sing it again.

It’s part of a bigger problem where in The music industry suffers cuz artists don’t own their music, labels do. So they need to play the game as well or they’d be out of work and the next best thing takes the cake.

Interesting! I am not that familiar with Punjabi music scene so I didn't know T-Series/ Sony had a monopoly over there too. I agree with you that singers not having any rights over their song is also contributing to the problem. It's unfair that how limited visibility most of these singers get despite giving so many hit songs ☹️

There is Mirchi music awards but idk how recognized/ prestigious it is considered 😕
