According to gossip he did reciprocate but his Dad did not allow it to progress and gave him an ultimatum to commit to Natasha. There was an interview of his where he mentioned about there being strain with his family which they eventually got over and how he had to take some difficult personal life decision. Paraphrasing here as I vaguely remember this.

Lmao in this interview, she reminds of one character from some Sidney Sheldon novel.. she had everything, fame, money, success but was not satisfied and hankered for this guy whom she loved deeply but he had friend-zoned her 😆

He talked about how he is not able to give time to his family, specially his mom and end up disappointing his loved ones.

The blind about his dad forcing him came before kalank shoot started, it also mentioned how he will get married last year. But Varun is not even getting married this year.

Varun even talked about how some people write stupid blinds about him in rajeevs interview.
