Aishwarya may not be the greatest actress ever but she is a good actress and at time excels in performance if given good director. She is director's actress. Period.
Aishwarya had no Godfather like KJo. She joined the film industry with Mani Ratnam's political film Iruvar, not with Yash Chopra's romantic film.
Mani Ratnam, Shankar and Sanjay Leela Bhansali are considered her biggest directors but they are also not her godfathers. They didn't cast her in every film.
She got into major career crisis post Devdas but it was supposed to be her prime time in Bollywood. SRK tried to sabotage her career with an ill motive and he admited it in interviews that during that time he did wrong with her by replacing her in every big film with Rani and Preity.
Where are Rani and Preity now? Where is Aishwarya now? Aishwarya is far better star than Rani and Preity combined now because she is a self made actress who did not rely on Khans or YRF / Kjo.
She had her hits and flops but those were her own films.
