Actually, I was as busy then as I am now. I think I spent as much time with them as well... there isn't that much of a difference. If I'm shooting now, I won't see Azad for three-four months. Like when I was on an outdoor schedule for Dangal, I didn't see him for months. My problem is I don't even remember when I'm doing a film... I forget that I even have a family, a wife and kids. I get very absorbed in my work.

Don't your kids ever get upset about this?

A little bit. Actually, Kiran said this to me a couple of years back, You don't really care for us'. But it's important to understand that it wasn't a complaint and just an observation. We have a room upstairs, like a study; it's where Kiran and I always sit and talk. She was actually thinking and saying that they don't exist for me, and so I asked her what she meant. And she said that they're not in my periphery because my mind is always somewhere else constantly thinking of work, even when I'm physically there with them. She said she knows that I love them and she's not sure she wants me to change, because if I did, I wouldn't be the person she fell in love with.

What she said was the truth and she wasn't even complaining, but I felt that it wasn't right and that I should spend more time with the kids and with her. It's not that I didn't want to, it just never occurred to me. Since then, I've made it a point to get home at 6pm, and spend the next two hours with Azad and her. And then at 8pm, I start work again. But those two hours we spend together, I give Azad a bath, feed him and then I read to him. I won't say I've managed to do it every single day, but I try and make it happen as much as possible.

These two answers were missing from the post. Isn't it amazing that he gets to do this! Imagine a woman saying this that they forget about their kids and family while working! Glad he is working on it now and spending more time with his family. Now I know why Reena decided to split from him. He is not easy to live with! As much as I love this guy and the way he thinks, the male privilege is showing.

Still he has much more pleasant personality

It's hard to see Tom Hanks being compared to anyone else, or someone comparing Amir to Tom Hanks.

I haven't seen negative comments about him tbh. As an actor, he has never let me down. None can take his place. Thats why i don't want a desi forrest gump no matter how good it might be.

It's abt looks...even in the intvw he is talking abt looks..where I have come across quite a few who say he does look like Tom Hanks...in this forum itself quite a few had similar opinion not just in this thread but many other threads...

Yes he has but these answers had some extra detail which I thought were interesting. He is among the very few men in Bollywood who even talk about this issue! But his answers show in general how men take their families for granted! It's not his fault tbh it's how things are! I am glad to see him talk about it! So we the audience know the secret of having a family & this amazing career!

So true. As much i like Aamir, i hate him for giving these speeches on events about child awareness and how we have to help the child in understanding their dreams and realising them. And then boom..he hardly saw junaid and ira and has admitted not seeing azad for months..imagine junaid and ira who don't even live with him. Clearly,he has no idea of what is happening in their lives! During dangal he said hes not sure if junaid wants to come in movies but he's studying theatre. Then he was interning with aamir as per him but was hardly spotted with him. Then on kwk he said he wants to act and direct..and mind you he always starts with i think' hes never sure abt them. Then suddenly he was looking for scripts a month back and when the media has noticed and is questioning him hes taking a u-turn and saying hes not interested in movies! If u see his birthday vedio he simply shrugs his shoulders and says whatever they want to do they can do with their lives 2 weeks after we are looking fir scripts'. You can make out at looking at junaid..hes grown a beard..uncomfortably looking at the camera..not dressed like other kids. Sure,they are down to earth but radically different from the orher celeb kids..even azad is in addisas,nike clothes/shoes. He's 25 and cant hide his father is his biggest hurdle in moving ahead in life. Maybe im wrong on junaid,but aamir no. Its his duty to look after junaid n ira. Im disappointed in him as a fan!
