Luka Chuppi, the romantic comedy starring Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon hit the theatre on 1st March, 2019 along with Sonchiriya, a dacoit drama starring Sushant Singh Rajput, Manoj Bajpayee, Ashutosh Rana, Ranvir Shorey and Bhumi Pednekar.

Luka Chuppi takes a bumper start in the box office. It collected around 8.01 Crore on the opening day despite facing tough competition from Total Dhamaal and Gully Boy. The fact is that Kartik Aaryan has got a good number of followers and the film cater to a targeted audience specially youth. His last film 'Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety' was also a super hit. Luka Chuppi has received mostly good review from critics. If the word of mouth is positive, the movie is expected to grow further in the weekend.

it was a small budget movie with little face value and for that 8cr is indeed bumper opening

#LukaChuppi has superb Day 1... Springs a big, big surprise... Opens bigger than #Raazi [ 7.53 cr], #Stree [ 6.83 cr] and #BadhaaiHo [ 7.29 cr]... Strong word of mouth should ensure impressive growth on Day 2 and 3... Fri 8.01 cr. India biz.

After seeing these numbers i cant but think why nepotism exists in bollywood. Both kartik and kriti are outsiders and are better looking as well as better actors then most star kids yet their opening is the same as Dhadak(which had completely new actors while lukka chuppi had two experienced ones). Now i can see from a monetary point of View karans logic. If star kids can get an opening which most outsiders get after several years of struggle, why not launch the star kids then only.

I am not saying that lukka chuppi got a bad opening, it got a decent one but even with all of karthiks recent popularity a outsider still has to struggle a lot to match the hype and box office pull of star kids.
