Total Dhamaal has emerged a HIT film as it holds strongly on Monday with collections in the 9.25- 9.50 crore nett range. The drop is around 40% from a good start of 16 crore nett apprx. The film is even stronger in places like UP, Gujarat, Bihar and the Central belts dropping even less. Single screens in these areas especially UP have dropped just 20-25% from day one.

The collections of the film have gone to around 70 crore nett in four days and it is looking to be in the 90-95 crore nett range over the week depending on the next few days. The drop is around 50% at the high end premium multiplexes but it can sustain well in the long run without these.

The next test for the film will be on the second Friday and if it mass and families come again on Friday and the weekend it could become a SUPER HIT film. It is the first in the Dhamaal series to emerge a HIT theatrically as the first two were huge on television but not so big in the theatres.

TOTAL DHAMAAL has collected approx. 3.41 mil. USD [Rs. 24.16 cr.] in its opening weekend in the overseas markets. It has registered the *second highest opening weekend of 2018* in overseas after GULLY BOY [4.8 mil. USD].

Total Dhamaal had a very good hold on Monday with collections hitting double digits on Monday as it collected 9.75-10 crore nett. The drop from day one is under 40% and many places dropped even less than that. It takes the four day total of the film to 71 crore nett. It is the second film this year to hit double digits on Monday after Uri - The Surgical strike. Even in history only around 25 films have hit the double digit mark on Monday.

The film is a HIT and can go higher depending on the hold in week two. It had super strong hold in UP and Gujarat with some centers in these two states showing falls of just 30%. the metros also haved held though from lower levels. The slightly disappointing business is Delhi city and East Punjab but there comedies historically have always been less unless the base is there.

The week could go to 95 crore nett range which would be a big total and the second week is Lukka Chuppi which is not huge competition especially in the places where Total Dhamaal is strong.. The collections of Total Damaal till date are as follows.

It was a good thing that this film released a week after Gully Boy as the media step motherly treatment can easily be seen. Last week the attempt was to get even the dogs and cats into the theatres and this week is the opposite and make sure people stay away but the audience has a mind of its own though it does have a little affect in the big metros.

It was being said in industry rounds that the big national daily Hindustan Times actually implied that an actor like Ayushmann Khurana was better than Ajay Devgn just to put the film down. This daily has a huge reach maybe more than the film itself and readers of it in the national language may even day who is Ayushmann Khurana and then others who by chance may have seen some of his work will ask can he actually act.

Here you are not just being comparing but implying he is better than someone who has almost 100 films as main lead. Forgett the box office, performances, Hits and all that, just to do 100 films as main lead is a huge achievement as not many in history have done this. All this without any facts or figures just to put a film down.

There's no denying that national chains [plexes in metros and beyond metros] contribute to a big total, but let's not overlook the contribution by mass pockets/single screens... Make movies that hold pan-India appeal, only then can we expect achche din for trade. #TotalDhamaal
