It was good casting to have Kangana as Rani Laxmi Bai, even her detractors have said the same. I haven't seen the film yet so can't comment too much. If Kangana interfered for the betterment of the film and not her ego, then it's good. Ultimately, it's a lot of her vision as well that is reaching the audience and being appreciated. It's also a bit questionable if she really hijacked the project. Krish has said that he was not welcomed back, implying that only Kangana did not have him ousted. There was allegedly some person from Zee who wasn't happy with Krish's final product and it was that person who said it looked like a Bhojpuri film and not Kangana from what I read. Also, it's not like the response for Krish's version couldn't also have been underwhelming. It just would have been less risky with the lower budget but Zee actually did back Kangana also and didn't accept Krish's film as it was.
Also, Kangana's interference can't be all bad. She was given dialogue writing credits for 'Queen'. The film worked. She might have added inputs to TWMR. The film worked. She changed Apurva's 'Simran' and it stayed okay more or less. Kangana is qualified to interfere to be honest. Many times it happens naturally in a person's career that they just move up to other levels.
As for other actresses playing Rani Laxmi Bai, why not just accept Kangana? After all, Kangana gave her blood for the role too and seems to have done a good enough job. I definitely don't think she is any less than the other actresses. Besides, they have also played real life figures and historical figures, Deepika as Padmavati and PC as Mary Kom. Kangana shouldn't be discredited.
Let's not forget that Kangana broke a couple of her own box office records with film. That should count for something. Would the same thing have happened with Krish's version? Actually, the people backing the film themselves couldn't back Krish's vision either, which is why it had to be changed a bit as well. So for a Kangana film, it is doing well.
