Deepika can pull off a Manikarnaka for sure. She's smart that way - she pulled off a Mastani and a Tamasha and a Piku in the same year as well as a Naina, Leela and Meenamma in the same year. She's far more versatile than Kangu I feel who excels in crazy, semi-crazy and half-crazy roles more than she does in others.

Kangana is a good actor by a mile, but not versatile at all! She mostly plays herself in most of the movies...Even in Manikarnika, she played Kangana in most of the scenes!

Datto is her only character where she did something different and excelled! My personal favorite from all of her performances!

No, she can't pull off Manikarnika. No one in Bollywood except Kang can. You saying this with so much conviction makes me think you haven't seen the movie at all. And her roles such as Naina, or Piku were not exceptional. Kang could have done them in her sleep. And in what world are Rani, Datto, and Manikarnika, arguably, her best characters crazy? Lol. Have you seen ANY of her movies? It's hard to take someone's opinion seriously when they don't watch the actor's work at all and just make assumptions.

The only non-crazy role Kangana excelled in was Rani of Queen...it was exquisite for sure...and that too, Deepika could have pulled off that role even better I feel...bringing out the right mixture of vulnerability, shyness and innocence required.

The only role of Deepika's kangana could have done better was Cocktail esp d drunken song bit...

IMO Deepika and Kangana have both done great roles. But Deepika wins in versatility...she's done like four complete different characters in one single year and all movies were hits. Also both have not fully explored the other's genres. Deepika has not explored the troubled/ half crazy/ half aggressive/feminist genre properly. Kangana has not explored the innocent/ graceful/ cultured/romantic/sexy/masala genre properly.

I have seen Manikarnaka and yes, I feel Deepika could have pulled it off, without the controversies or having to hog the entire screen time. And as for Datto, that character was pitted against Piku and Deepika's Piku won most of the awards that year.

I am not saying she plays only crazy characters. But she has excelled in those crazy characters the most - that's what I am saying, with the exception of Rani - which I mentioned above.
