Karan, Zoya, Farhan, Abhishek, Shweta, Hrithik, all of these guys grew up in the same circles and have known each other all their lives though Shweta and Abhishek were sent away to boarding school at one point.
There's a video of him talking with Anupama Chopra and admitting that Varun got the opportunity because he's David Dhawan's son and Alia being Mahesh Bhatt's daughter excited him. In the same conversation he says it takes a lot to make a star and talent is the least of those things. Yes Alia has talent but did anyone know this before Highway? Alia is more a product if KJo's support and good marketing than her own talent. And Jhanvi is headed the same way with her second movie being a patriotic biography. From the looks of it his next project is Ananya.
How does he exit a challenge by parents saying you did this for X's child do it for mine too? Well that kind of happened with Amrita and Sara and Jhanvi which resulted in Amrita taking Sara out of Dharma. This probably plays a part why he's seems less interested in Sara.
I don't believe that Vicky's father had nothing to do with Vicky's entry into Dharma. If it was just about talent Rajkumar Rao would have signed a Dharma film a few years ago. Certainly after Newton.
Adi and Sonakshi are doing a supporting role and a cameo in Dharma now because they are not bankable. And Sid he's holding on to as a token outsider so he can argue that he's not nepotistic. If any of these people's careers takes a turn they'll become his favorite. Just look at Ranveer Singh.
The only person he seems to hang on to despite flops is Ranbir Kapoor. Something he doesn't seem to have done even for Abhishek whom I think he's closer to on a personal level.
Sorry for the long post. I tried to consolidate my opinions/responses to several posts into one.
