Ranveer Singh: Deepika Padukone is so gharelu, I love it

It's been over a month that Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone tied the knot at picturesque Lake Como in Italy, but the newlyweds are still making many go weak in the knees with their PDA. Provided by India Today

From heartwarming messages to aww-dorable pictures to cute comments, Ranveer and Deepika continue to create a storm after their marriage.

Ranveer and Deepika have been busy spilling the beans on their relationship and life after marriage in innumerable interviews, and the 33-year-old actor did it again.

Ranveer in a recent interview to a magazine talked about his personal life, and revealed that he is going to be the husband of the millennium. He said, "I'm gonna glide and breeze through it."

Talking about his wife Deepika, he said, "She is so gharelu, I love it."

After their return from honeymoon, Ranveer and Deepika are back to work. If Ranveer is riding high on the success of Simmba, he is now awaiting the release of Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy. Last night, Deepika and Ranveer joined Karan Johar and Rohit Shetty for the success bash of Simmba. The film, which is an official remake of Telugu film Temper, is galloping its way to Rs 200-crore club.

Apart from this, Ranveer will soon begin shooting for Kabir Khan's 83 in which he plays the role of Kapil Dev. It was just recently that Ranveer expressed his desire to work with Deepika, and said that he was "aching" to work with her again. And now buzz has it that Deepika will essay the role of Kapil Dev's wife, Romi. 83 is based on India's historic 1983 cricket world cup win.

W*F is gharelu??? Why are these rubbish terms used to describe women! Ugh!
Deepika is an introverted person...she probably likes to be by herself and spend time with a few people. We have a lot to learn on how to describe people's preferences and personality without sounding demeaning!

I love both of them but srsly stop with the W*F statements. Time to go off the radar till the next release, Bahut overdose Ho Gaya he.

And ya what does "gharelu even mean, that she doesn't like partying every day and likes to stay in her own space. He is making her sound like bahenji!

Does gharelu mean home body? nothing wrong with that. And Ranveer is correct on his interview when he said no girl he met had a higher IQ then him. He proved it with deepika. She has no IQ for choosing men. PR overdose of these bw couples lately, overdose of annoying and irritating, attention seeking couples they all are. I think only Sonam and her husband seemed decent now.

He said something similar on a show with Sara on the side to which Sara said something along the lines of wow, he is calling Deepika Padukone that on national tv or something. I think Ranveer then toned it down to how she is a "homemaker."

I agree though. The way he has been putting it sounds like Ranveer needed someone who can cook, clean and take care of him and that's who he married. Coming from someone like Ranveer, that's a little disappointing because this guy is very articulate and very good with words, so not sure how he isn't hearing himself speak.

I saw this IV. It is famously Filmfare.

Gharelu means homely.

There's nothing demeaning about it.
Dunno why people are interpreting it as something Misogynist or demeaning.

For those that think gharelu is a way to describe a homebody... it's not. It has sexist/misogynistic connotations of what's expected of women and wives. As in they're expected to look after the house (it's literally in the word gharelu) and not go out much and be demure and non argumentative.
Ranveer has always slipped in some misogynistic nonsense here and there in most of his interviews.

I wonder how calling a person gharelu is demeaning.

Homely is the synonym of that.
