Now lemme post some "colour" songs! 😆
Seeta aur Geeta was such an entertainer and I loved Sanjeev Kumar and Hema Malini's chemistry so much in this (yes much more than her and Dharam!😳). This song is pretty cute too, they start out trying to make each other jealous and they're both grumpy about their imaginary rivals 😉, but are outed in the first stanza where they confess what they'd do to her souten and her saajan respectively. and they admit to being the one in the other's dream! The horse and camel race is quite fun as is also the little thing they do with the hat as prop!

This song is so wonderfully picturized, it shows Goldie Anand's prowess.
Hema is carrying a suitcase of diamonds, I think and an exchange is to happen with Dev Anand, but the police find their way there and she quickly improvises a song pretending to be late to meet her lover. Dev promptly catches on and proceeds to make her uncomfortable with freely given hugs and taking undue advantage of the fact that a pretty girl is throwing herself at him, 😉 😆all the while cleverly exchanging the suitcase👏 and being watchful of the prying eyes of the police troupe, led by Jagdish Raj, who after initial suspicions seem lulled into foolish complacency and are grinning at them like idiots!😛 Fun!! P.S. I love Hema Malini's look in this one!

I just love this song (is it a coincidence that this starts out with Hema too? 😃). Amol Palekar is lost in thoughts of Vidya Sinha, so much so that he sees her everywhere. Even as the heroine of the movie he's watching. Just watch his expressions when Hema morphs into Vidya and Dharam hugs her! And then when Dharam morphs into him. And in the end when he gets whipped by the villain! Priceless! 😆😆
The tune by Salilda is so peppy and playful and Yesudas and Asha are wonderful! I just love the harmonies they do. And yayy - glimpses of Bombay again!! I love how it's picturized too..with them kinda talk-singing at the bus-stop and boarding the bus, it flows like a casual conversation. The lyrics by Yogesh do too.

Sang sang chale mere maare aage- peeche phere samjhoon ye teri iraade
dosh tera hai ye to har din jab dekho karti ho jhoote vaade
tu na jaane deewane dikhaoon tujhe kaise main ye dil ki lagan

This one has Amitabh suffering from a bad memory 😆, while Neetu keeps giving him different names.
kitne logon se main milkar bhool jaata hoon (ye toh main jaanti hoon)
meri aadat hai aksar main bhool jata hoon (haan baba jaanti hoon)
dekha phir kuch bhool gaya, mujhko yaad dilana
mera kya naam hai (ye bhi bhool gaye? 😆😉)..
Anjaana 😃

Another song that I think is really cute and fun - Farida Jalal especially is so impish and charming in this and Danny makes such funny sulky faces! 😆 I was surprised when I discovered Danny actually sang this with Asha - had no idea the man could sing. R.D scores a very North Eastern pahadi tune, that was kinda his forte given that he hails from Tripura.

Unfortunately, this link I found has only half the song . And the full version on YT doesn't seem to have sound.🤢

This movie (Samadhi) I guess is more known for the famous (or should I say, infamous) Kaanta laga, but this is such a fun song, and it staggers me how similar it is to "Koi ladki mujhe kal raat sapne mein mili"! Dharmendra and Jaya Bhaduri are a rare romantic pair- I can only recall Guddi that had her crushing on him!, and it's surprising how cute they are together!

Amitabh is a total "sadu" all through this movie - always wondered why he gets these kind of roles in all Yash Chopra films and Shashi has the more positive, exuberant role. This is a beautiful song though, with the differing points of view. Shashi and Hema have found love and everything is rosy, so that's what they present but Amitabh is a hardened cynic - so it's not easy for him to accept that love can make the world go round. He keeps reiterating "ye bekaar bedaam ki cheez hai" while the pair try to convince him that "mohabbat bade kaam ki cheez hai" while Rakhee looks on in hope and longing.

Sunil Dutt could set the screen on fire in his B&W days. I had FFed my way through the Bhagwan song on my first watch of Railway Platform. Upon rewatching I find that, Sahir's lyrics suit Sunil's character in the movie so well.Another youth from post-independent India disillusioned with God and society alike.

Both the Sanjeev Kumar-Hema duets from Seeta aur Geeta are wonderful. The melody and the lyrics are so playful.

I'm making my way through Dev Anand's films. I have no intention of watching anything later than Johny mera naam. He looked really cute with Hema 'O mera Raja' though. The give and take as they build up a fictional romance for the police men's benefit is entertaining.

Incidentally in Sadhana's 'Geeta mera naam' there's a dialogue where she tells Sunil Dutt. "Agar Johny tera naam hai to , Geeta mera naam hai". Nice reference.
